The prolific artist, and visionary Zelly Ocho is back and better than ever with an innovative and insightful new album, “DIRTY DRUGS,” an album oozing with growth and innovation, while remaining uniquely authentic to Zelly Ocho’s iconic and recognizable personal sound. Additionally, he has accompanied the album with a single release: “Got The Baddest” featuring K Suave. Inspired by his own sense of self and his aptitude for all things introspective, “DIRTY DRUGS” is a testament to the young artist’s growth, passion, and dedication to his musicianship.
“DIRTY DRUGS” dropped on Thursday, October 10th, and is one of Zelly Ocho’s most standout projects yet. Heavily influenced by his own introspections and intrinsic motivations, Zelly Ocho takes his own inspirations from himself, his lived experiences, and the world around himself, which he seeks to analyze and come to terms with through his own thoughtful introspection.
For Zelly Ocho, this project marks a major milestone for his artistry – one of his first favorite tracks from the album is Filthy as opp” then “Star high” and “One Piece Left,” an Anime inspired track.
An authentic spirit, Zelly Ocho intentionally tries not to listen to mainstream music because he doesn’t want his art to be affected by outside influences, and wants to be motivated purely by his intrinsic passions, desires, and creative visions. “I’ve always wanted to be a successful musician. When I started doing music, I gave myself a second chance at life,” said Zelly Ocho.
A true creative at heart, the album comes along with exciting merchandise to complement the musical project – self-designed, Zelly Ocho took it upon himself to design specialty, limited edition collared shirts to add to the excitement of the release. His personal brand is referred to as “VLAD,” a testament to his unique journey. To Zelly, “VLAD” references many terms, and he believes everyone should interpret it how they feel best – from “Violent Life Around Drugs” to “Very Loyal And Determined,” he wants VLAD to resonate with audiences of all kinds, similarly to how he makes his music for all audiences.
According to Zelly Ocho, the creative process for this specific project has been filled with sessions he cites as being very “self reflective” and “introspective.” His words are advice for his generation, and he hopes to continue emerging as a symbol of success and inspiration for anyone who wants to pursue music at the levels that he has achieved.
As he celebrates the release of his new full-length project, he is also offering a visual component of “Upgraded Boss,” an eclectic, upbeat, anthemic hit about being a boss and staying in your lane. The vibrant and colorful video shares visuals of Zelly Ocho and his friends celebrating life and his immense success so far as one of the voices of this generation. “My music helps me keep up with my life,” described Zelly Ocho, who cites music as a “timestamp” for him as he navigates his trajectory in life.
Zelly Ocho cites his friendship with album collaborator and fellow Ohio native Trippie Redd as a large motivating force in his life. “Trippie is like the Lil Wayne for me of my generation. He’s one of my closest friends.”
