In a beauty industry that’s saturated with trends and fads, it can be hard to sort through what’s just for Instagrammable pics and what’s genuinely a key ingredient to healthy-looking skin. If you’re a habitual social media scroller, or are hip to the latest beauty innovations, then you’ve most likely come across the “light up” facial devices like techy masks, wands, and even full body light beds. LED light therapy (to be more specific) has always piqued my interest, but I oftentimes questioned the capabilities. My curiosity led me to Vanity Planet: an industry leader in creating progressive, effective, and quality self-care essentials.
Vanity Planet is ahead of its time. The company fuses beauty with technology to bring us solutions that address various needs for our skin and well being. Vanity Planet’s trend-forward beauty and wellness products deliver at-home, “spa-grade experiences” with high-performing tools that’ll have you feeling confident and flourishing holistically.
If you thought LED light therapy was only for in-office appointments with aestheticians or dermatologists, Vanity Planet wants you to think again. I tried the Lua Anti-Aging Red LED Eye Patches, and they’re undoubtedly a luxury our skin deserves.
Lua Anti-Aging Red LED Eye Patches by Vanity Planet is a red light therapy device that was designed to boost under-eye radiance. Lua revives the look of tired eyes while targeting inflammation, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. And with that, the futuristic, glowing gadget had me intrigued. One of my biggest problem areas on my face is the skin under my eyes. Naturally, my eyes sit slightly sunken on my face, and with seasonal allergies and some late nights combined, I find that the dark circles and fine lines are pretty customary. I’m very selective when it comes to using products on my skin, and I always prefer to use ones that are gentle. Learning more about the dangers of UV rays, not only from the sun, I had to see what LED light treatments were all about.
LED, also known as light emitting diode therapy for skincare is a noninvasive treatment that uses low-level and skin-safe light to treat a range of skin issues such as wrinkles, acne, and psoriasis. Originally developed in the 90s by NASA, it was found to have promising results for wound treatment. LED light therapy uses various wavelengths of light to stimulate the skin’s natural processes to rejuvenate cells, as well as the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen is responsible for your skin’s elasticity, giving it that firm, youthful look.
There are different LED colors, such as blue, red, and yellow, and they each have different benefits. Red LED light therapy is typically used for reducing fine lines, targeting skin inflammation and scars, and improving circulation. When the light hits your skin, it’s absorbed and it, then, stimulates collagen proteins. Unlike other skin treatments like chemical peels or laser therapies, LED light treatment doesn’t cause burns or other harmful side effects. Another bonus: LED’s do not consist of ultraviolet rays, meaning they’re safe to use regularly. At most, your skin may be light sensitive, so if the treated area is showing redness for more than two hours, Vanity Planet advises to discontinue the use of the Lua eye patches.
With this information, I gave Vanity Planet’s FDA-cleared LED eye patches a go, and I’m so glad that I did. In just six minutes, the Lua eye patches fight fine lines and wrinkling skin. And when I say minutes, I mean it. After using the patches, immediately, my eyes look refreshed and my skin visibly appears more even-toned than it did prior to the treatment. Needless to say, I’m sold.
I definitely would recommend Vanity Planet’s Lua if you have acne-prone skin, dry skin, or if you tend to have fine lines and dark circles under the eyes. Use daily in the morning and/or night, and be sure to follow up with your favorite moisturizer and eye cream!
