We spoke with up-and-coming hip-hop artist Will Chill had he a lot of enlightening things to say about the importance of music to the youth, things he wishes he had done differently growing up, his own personal style, his new single, and the message he is trying to convey to his audience, which adds a lot of depth to an already impressive artist.

He speaks about the importance of music in a young person’s life and developmental stages.  Music is an enriching experience for young people especially, because this is when your brain is developing and forming. “Music development in youth can have a big impact on your development of your character and motor skills way into your adult life, building foundations of confidence. It is a great way to express individuality and connect with your peers.”

I could not have said it better myself. Young people already have so much to worry about without the added stresses of today’s modern issues. Music (art in general) is just the kind of release and form of expression that can keep a person level-headed.

Will Chill also talks about what advice he would give his younger self. He says he would tell his younger self to be more confident and to trust himself more. He found that most of his problems were rooted in a lack of self-confidence. Once he found that trust in himself, maturity and personal growth followed suit. I think most people could use a little more confidence. It frees us from undue stress which leads to more productivity and peace. What could be better than that?

Will Chill also talks about his own personal style. He describes it as a hybrid of punk/rap/street/preppy style. A nice combination of layering, with a mixture of different length of material and he is ready to go. His style is certainly one of the many things that caught his audience’s attention early on and continues to this day. His younger self would appreciate the confidence that his current self exhibits in his personal style.

He also talks about his new single ‘S’mores. I am obsessed with the single and accompanying music video. Both pulsate with high energy and bright color. It is exactly the kind of music I am fixated on these days, and it is absolute ear candy. Besides being sonically thrilling, it also has an important message.

Circling back on themes from the earlier part of the interview, Will Chill states that the message is that of self-confidence and not caring what other people think of you. It is yet another example of what makes Will Chill such a quality artist. Beyond the exciting music and fun music videos is an artist who has real depth and meaning. It is his ability to transpose these important meanings into riveting content that puts him leagues above other entertainers of today.

That leads perfectly to his message to his fans or anyone who might find pleasure in his music. Believe in yourself. Who you are is who you are meant to be. Even though life has its share of challenges, you are more than up to the task of facing them. With a feel-good message like that, how could you not want to support such a genuine and talented artist?

Why do you think music is an important outlet for youth?

If you could go back in time and give your teenage self some advice, what would it be?

I would tell my younger self to be more confident and trust myself more. Looking back lacking confidence as young kid really hindered me in many parts of my life. I noticed once I developed more confidence and self-love I grew more.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style has changed over the years. It’s like a mix up of rap and punk street style with a preppy flair. I love layering my garments with sleeves shirts with long sleeves or sweaters and jackets.

Tell me about your new single and the story behind it!

This is a feel-good song with high energy, when you listen to this song, I want listeners to feel as if they’re on a ride. S’mores is all about self-confidence not caring what people have to say. We may often hear what we can’t do through life. This song promotes doing you to the fullest and being the best, you can be unapologetically.

What message do you want your music to leave behind?

The main message I want to promote is “self-love and confidence.” Go after those crazy ideas. Do not be ashamed of who you are as an individual. Life is full of challenges; it can be discouraging at times but use that as motivation to prevail. Everyone has a story, and everyone can manifest success in their own right
