Christina Benjamin began her career nine years ago as a stylist at one of Michigan’s prominent salons in the Metropolitan Detroit area. This allowed her to master the cutting-edge technique many clients and celebrities sought. Being a driven and creative stylist, she specialized in short-hair custom cuts, color, and wig units. Thereafter, she became a certified hair loss specialist and hair educator, teaching many stylists from all over to use the DKonstruct technique she uses to help so many women who experience hair loss due to alopecia, illness, balding, and many other factors that affect women all over the world.

Who is Christina outside of your bio?

Outside of my role as the Owner and CEO of DKonstruct by Christina, one of the most popular future nonsurgical hair replacement companies in the world, as well as being an educator, mentor, and coach. I enjoy being a wife and a mother to three beautiful children. They are my greatest joy and accomplishment. I am definitely a woman who is all about God and my family. It’s all about creating memories and moments with them. I get excited about what I do, because it allows me to create experiences for my family. They normally wouldn’t have allowed me to have the flexibility, I would not be afforded it if I was not in control of my career.

What are some signs and reasons for sudden hair loss and how you can get help?

Your body’s response to being deficient in minerals, nutrients or even on a cellular level can be caused by or can be contributed to by genetics, inherited illnesses, autoimmune diseases, mental stress, trauma, unhealthy lifestyles, excessive hair tension or poor nutrition, can all affect the current state of your hair. It’s always highly recommended to always follow up with your healthcare professional, such as your primary care physician or your dermatologist if you are experiencing any amount of hair loss. Early prevention is key to getting ahead of any hair loss. You just may be able to save your hair or at minimum slow down your hair loss.

How to boost your hair health?

Healthy hair starts from within. It is so important to take good care of your entire body. Not only that, but most times it also starts with getting proper rest. Your body needs time to regenerate, rejuvenate and heal. Getting proper sleep is a part of that. Be in tune with your body, listen to your body. Excessive hair loss is not a normal thing. It is the body‘s response to something deficient or stress. Your health is your wealth not only physically, but mentally as well. It is so important to take good care of your mind. Breaks and vacations are a must. Also, hiring a professional licensed hairstylist that will educate you about healthy hair habits and taking care of your hair at home is beneficial and crucial for the client. It is so important to understand too much of anything can be bad. It is important to understand what is considered excessive use such as overuse of hair products, hair tension, heat or over conditioning the hair can be harmful.

What are some of the best products for healthy hair?

The best way to select the right products for your hair is to listen to your hair. It will tell you what it needs whether it’s moisture, strengthening or smoothing. If your hair is dry, you need to find products that encourage moisture, something that is hydrating. I think it is great that every so often you are treating your hair to some type of deep conditioning or moisture-penetrating mask. If you are dealing with shedding, it is important to read your shampoos and conditioners to see does it encourages fortifying silk proteins. Look for words that say, strengthening, or fortifying, normally that is for hair that needs strengthening that will help with shedding. Lastly, if you are someone who deals with lots of split ends, you may consider using something that controls fizz or something that says smoothing. Please also be sure to get trims or a haircut on your damaged ends to prevent further splits. Lastly, please always read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow them. Overuse of a product can also cause a buildup of product residue on the hair strain resulting in adverse effects to your hair. Moderation is Key!
