Vince Staples has made his mark on the rap game, and now, he’s stepping into his own as an actor.

The Long Beach native first exploded onto the scene as part of the hip-hop collective Odd Future, before venturing into his solo artistry. Boasting one of the most loyal fanbases, Vince Staples quickly became a fan favorite, for both his music and his personality.

On Monday, February 12th, Vince Staples graced the red carpet at the Netflix Tudum Theater in the heart of Hollywood, California. This was the official premiere and screening of his new show titled The Vince Staples Show, created by Staples himself and executive produced by Kenya Barris (the creator of black-ish).

The synopsis? “Who’s Vince Staples? Well, that’s a tricky question. He’s kind of famous, but he’s not. He’s kind of rich, but he’s not. He’s also kind of a criminal. But he’s…not? Follow him on his daily adventures, where anything that can go wrong usually does.”

Moments before the screening, Vince took the time to address everyone in attendance.

He states, “I’m not gon’ say nothing crazy, I promise. It was a long time coming, I want to say thank you first and foremost everybody in the writers room. Everybody on set. Every grip, ADs, all the department heads. Every single person on cast, every person that auditioned. I want to thank Netflix. I want to thank Khalabo especially for taking a risk and letting me do I want, even though I was gonna do that anyway. Y’all didn’t complain that much man and I appreciate that.”

Attendees for the evening include Vince Staples, Kenya Barris, Karen Civil, and many more who were excited about the film as much as Staples was. The Vince Staples Show hits Netflix on February 15th.
