Two of Brooklyn’s sharpest lyricists in Skyzoo and Torae will celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Barrel Brothers album at Mercury Lounge on Sunday, May 26th.
When the duo released their album in 2014, at the height of the blog era, many praised its unique blend of hardcore and underground rap sounds. The project enlisted some of hip-hop’s finest producers: DJ Premier, Illmind, Oh-No, Black Milk, and Jahlil Beats. Barrel Brothers also featured emcees like Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, Sha Stimuli, Blu, and Livin Proof.
The Barrel Brothers album was in the top 50 of the BillBoard Heatseekers, Rap Albums, R&B/Hip-Hop, and Independent Album charts in 2014.
Most recently, Torae has released “The Bubble Chip” as seen on Genius and more.
Torae, creator and host of ‘The Tor Guide’ on SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation and ‘That Raw’ on LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Radio, epitomizes a multi-hyphenate renaissance man. When the songwriter, actor, rapper, philanthropist, president of the NY Chapter of the Recording Academy, and entrepreneur isn’t delivering his daily radio shows to listeners the hits or hosting red carpet events and live festivals, he’s interviewing the Kings and Queens of today like Nas, Swizz Beats, D-Nice, Megan The Stallion or Migos, to name a few.
