It’s officially 2024 which means new beginnings, new goals, and new romance.
If you’re into dating shows, this new season of OWN’s READY TO LOVE will have you strapped to your seats! This time, the dating show sees 20 singles exploring romantic connections in Fort Worth, Texas. Hosted by comedian and actor Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles, READY TO LOVE explores the highs and lows or black men and women in their 30’s and 40’s, as they embark on a quest to find their soulmates.
The series kicked off Friday, January 12th at 8pm ET/PT on OWN, Oprah Winfrey Network.
Sheen had the pleasure of chatting with Tommy Miles about this new season.
What are you most excited for with this season’s READY TO LOVE?
Ready To Love Ft. Worth is going to be an amazing season. What excites me the most is that I see some GENUINE connections this season. Not that I haven’t seen them in the past… but I’m seeing a few that REALLY want LOVE. I see it in their eyes and their actions.
What was the highlight from shooting?
My favorite episode is the first episode because I’m throwing curve balls right out the gate. This journey is made up of 20 singles, but the first episode/mixer all you see is 10 singles. They don’t have a clue as to what is going on.
How do you know when someone is “ready to love”?
You know when someone is truly ready to love when you see them open up and share what’s been deep inside their souls for a long time. Things they have never expressed or released into the universe…whether it’s desire, pain, wants, needs, expectations. That vulnerability is showing you who they really are…THE TRUE THEM. By revealing themselves they are letting you know, they want something. They want LOVE.
Favorite couple on the show and why?
I won’t reveal my favorite couple just yet. But let’s just say, “HE” is a curveball that I threw in later to join this journey. Their connection is MAGICAL.
Best relationship advice you have to give?
The best relationship advice I can give is to truly know who YOU are before getting into a relationship. Oftentimes, we do not know ourselves. You can not enter into a relationship expecting someone to learn YOU…and YOU don’t even know YOU. Know who you are and be honest about it. That way, you know exactly what you are bringing to the table. And talking about everything is key. Healthy relationships require uncomfortable conversations.
What does it mean to be hosting a show on Oprah’s network?
Hosting this amazing show has brought me so much joy. I get to be the conductor, the navigator, The O.G. that can drop nuggets to those that are truly wanting knowledge and wisdom on how to find true love. And more importantly, HOW TO KEEP IT. What I like the most is helping people find THEMSELVES. If you didn’t walk away with someone at the end of this journey…I want to make sure you walked away knowing who YOU are. Whether that’s good are bad. But at least you walked away knowing the good, and the things you need to correct about yourself. And always know that none of us are perfect.
My wife and I are two imperfect people, that are perfect for one another. Jackie and I are 22 years deep. We are riding till the wheels fall off. And when they fall off, we will WALK THE REST OF THE WAY… TOGETHER.
