Cleopatra Zvezdana Nikolic, better known as Cleo Sol, was born in West London to her Serbian Spanish mother and her Jamaican father in 1990. Her parents were both jazz musicians and as a child Cleo recalls hearing music by Bob Marley and The Fugees being played in their home.
Cleo knew she had a gift and enjoyed singing at local youth clubs. She shares about her relationship with God and how she feels God uses her as a vessel through her music and how praying is important to her.
At the age of sixteen, Cleo says she met a producer. Although skeptical about the business, she knew she had a nice voice and that this would be a good way to get her foot in the door of the music industry.
Cleo embraces her multi-genre style of music. She’s been nominated for several awards including the BET Awards for Best International Artist and the MOBO Awards for Album of the Year. Some of her music titles include, When I’m In Your Arms, Things Will Get Better, Sunshine and Heaven.
The Artist shares that she’s passionate about her music and is a stickler for doing things right. She also adds that she wants to be loyal to her fans and how important it is for her to have a relationship with them. She’s always eager to know what songs they want to hear from her when she performs. She shares at times she still gets nervous when performing live. She also adds she doesn’t care for multi city tours, preferring to perform live on local stages.
She enjoys going to concerts and says she’s a fan of girl artists. Some of her favorite girl artists are SZA, Chaka Khan, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.
Cleo stresses that music is a source of healing and says she’s always making new music. So, stay tuned, we’ll be hearing a lot more from Cleo Sol!
