What do you define as success?
Success for us is being able to touch and change people’s lives with the stories we tell. Our fans and supporters are our success, nothing is guaranteed, and the fact that we got into this business with no experience and now have a company that has multiple award-winning shows all because of the love and support of our fans that’s success to us.
What was the inspiration behind your brand?
The inspiration behind our brand comes from the slogan we have which is ‘It Starts with A Dream’. Being overlooked and ignored made us fight harder to do whatever we needed to do to succeed and make our mark in the film industry.
What makes your business unique?
ArieCan is unique because the stories we tell come from the viewpoint of two guys from Baltimore. Our city is unique within itself. We’re not bound by the typical Hollywood rules and because of that we’ve been able to stand out from the rest.
Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?
Yes, we do. It was hard in the beginning because the company was just the two of us and now, we’ve been blessed to have a staff that helps us. We work 7 days a week and we find ourselves needing to take breaks from filming and writing. We’ve made it a point to say no to certain projects and opportunities so that we don’t exhaust ourselves. That’s helped us stay fresh with our concepts and ideas.
Who is your business role model? Why?
Tyler Perry because for us he is truly the blueprint of being told no and he was not allowed through Hollywood’s doors, so he built his own door. And that’s something we’ve actually done with ArieCan Productions.
What do you have planned for the next six months?
We have some very exciting things planned for the next six months. We’re gearing up for our most anticipated movie premiere Secrets season 2 which will hit theaters on February 24, 2024. We’ll also be doing our partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools, and filming season two of our award-winning series The Braxton’s: The First Family.
What would attract listeners to your story?
We think what attracts people to us is our authenticity. We speak for the unspoken and tell stories that are fresh and exciting. Our story is already written, and we love that everyone is enjoying this journey with us.
What is your proudest business accomplishment?
There are so many but one that sticks out for us is the fact that we were able to go from our first premiere of our show Chapter 2 in our living room with 12 people to less than a year later having season two of Chapter 2 being shown to a sold-out movie theater. God is good and we have been so blessed.
