In the ever-changing landscape of music, Ivey Amour stands out as a beacon of authentic artistry. With a sound that seamlessly blends the rich, soulful elements of classical R&B with a contemporary, confident flair, Ivey’s musical journey is one of growth, exploration, and profound passion. In this exclusive interview, she opens up about the evolution of her sound, the influences that have shaped her, and the deeply personal connection she has with her craft.

Your music blends elements of classical R&B with contemporary confidence. Can you describe how your sound has evolved over the years and what influences have shaped it?
When I first started out singing, I always leaned toward pop music and what was on the radio. As I’ve grown, I have delved deep into the R&B music genre as well as indie music, hip hop, rock, country and basically anything else I can get my hands on. My biggest musical inspirations over the years have to include artists like Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Doja Cat, and many more.

You began mastering musical instruments at a very young age. How did learning piano, flute, and guitar contribute to your development as an artist and songwriter?

I am so thankful I have taken the time to learn at least one instrument. My knowledge of music theory has allowed me to experiment with new sounds and ideas and I am able to communicate with other talented musicians, which makes collaborations much easier.

Many artists aim for fame, but you have a deep passion for the craft itself. What keeps you motivated and inspired to continue creating music?

I have always genuinely loved to sing. I’m always singing new melodies any and everywhere I can. For me, music is a profound form of expression and connection. The process of creating melodies, writing lyrics, and bringing songs to life is incredibly fulfilling. I find inspiration in everyday experiences, emotions, and the world around me, and translating these into music is my way of making sense of it all.

Healing through music seems to be a significant theme in your work. How has your own healing journey influenced your musical career and the messages you convey through your songs?

Music has always been a source of solace and understanding for me, a way to navigate through life’s challenges and emotions. This personal experience with healing through music naturally translates into my work, as I aim to create songs that offer the same comfort and clarity to others. My journey has taught me the transformative power of music, and I strive to pass that on, helping others find their own paths to healing through the art we share.

You have been enchanting audiences with your alluring vocals and powerful lyrics. What do you hope your listeners take away from your performances and music?

Through my performances and music, I hope to provide listeners with an emotional journey that resonates deeply with their own experiences. My goal is for listeners to feel a sense of comfort and understanding, knowing that they are not alone in their emotions. Ultimately, I hope my performances leave a lasting impact, sparking introspection, joy, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of life.

Can you describe a particular city or venue that stood out to you during your tour and why it was special?

The most interesting place we toured was definitely Seattle. I had never been anywhere like it. I loved the rainy weather and I got to see some beautiful cherry blossom trees while I was there. Also, I met a beautiful couple from my audience and they gave me some great insight and advice that I’ll always remember.

How did you prepare for the tour, both musically and mentally, to ensure you delivered your best performances each night?

I curated a setlist that balanced high-energy songs with intimate moments and I followed a strict vocal warm-up routine before each performance. Regular exercise contributed to my physical fitness and
is essential for the demands of performing and traveling.
