After awards season concluded this year, we were given a date that the 2021 Oscars would take place (as we do every year).
It was scheduled to take place on February 28th, 2021 but now the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed that they will reschedule the award ceremony to take place April 25th, 2021.
The last time the Oscars took place in April was in the year 1988. In addition to changing the date, the Academy has pushed back the eligibility period. Feature films released between January 1st and February 28th, 2021 will be eligible for Academy Awards consideration.
The deadline for special categories such as the Animated Feature Film and Documentary Feature category is now December 1st. General categories such as Best Picture and Original Song is now January 15th, 2021.
The nominations have been announced on March 15th, 2021. It will take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and air on ABC.
It's true! Next year's #Oscars will happen on April 25, 2021.
