The highly anticipated full list of nominees for the 17th Annual Headies Awards here, This year Wale, Skepta, Chris Brown, Travis Scott, Chloe Bailey are among the star-studded line-up of international artists leading in nominations. Synonymous with excellence, innovation, and unforgettable moments – the headies live up to its position as the most prestigious awards show on the continent of Africa.
After hosting its last two awards shows in the U.S., the Headies Awards returns to base in Lagos, Nigeria for its 17th edition held on Saturday, April 5th 2025. Their mission of bridging the gap and uniting the global diaspora was realized and they accomplished much more as their platform re-ignited an appreciation, passion and love for African music.
Recognizing global music, the songs and contenders of “International Artist of The Year” for the 17th Headies are “Blood On The Dance Floor” by Wale and Odumodublvck, “Tony Montana” by Skepta, “Hmmm” by Chris Brown feat. Davido, “Active” by Travis Scott feat. Asake, and “Vision Remix” by Chloe Bailey.
This year, Rema and Ayra Starr are among leading nominees with 7 nominations each. Rema is nominated for “Afrobeat Album of The Year,” “Headies Viewer Choice,” “Album of The Year,” “Song of The Year,” “Artist of The Year,” “Digital Artist of The Year,” and “Best Performance” while Ayra Starr is nominated for “Best R&B Performance,” “Best Vocal Performance (Female),” “Afrobeat Album of The year,” “Album of The Year,” “Song of The Year,” “Artist of The Year,” and “Digital Artist of The Year.”
With hits like “Blood On The Dance Floor” and “Cast” under his belt, Odumodublvck was credited with 8 nominations. Oscar-nominated singer Tems with 6 nominations, history-making Afrobeats superstar Davido with 5 nominations, and Afrobeats star Burna Boy with 3 nominations. They are all noted as leading nominees in recognition of their artistic ingenuity.
The Headies returns to Lagos, Nigeria this year for an unprecedented line-up of events, culminating in a week-long celebration of the industry’s growth and artistic ingenuity leading up to the awards ceremony on Saturday, April 5th, 2025.
