Tashell Williams believes that everyone has a story that needs to be shared to heal, connect, help others and give God glory so she wrote her book “One Lung to Live”.
What unique challenges do female entrepreneurs face?
I would say it is a challenge as a female entrepreneur to maintain a work/life balance. My business is my purpose and my passion rolled into one, so when I am maintaining my business, it does not feel like work, it is really enjoyable for me. I have to force myself to shut down my “business brain” to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. On the flip side, when I am spending time with those that mean the most to me, it is difficult to not answer emails or messages while throwing up my right hand and saying, “This will be really quick.” It seems like there is never enough time in a day to do it all. Calendaring has helped me tremendously with this balance.
What is most rewarding about running a beauty brand?
I love running my beauty brand Cadence Taylor Beauty! Have you seen the smile on someone’s face when they think they look amazing? It is sooooo super rewarding to help women and men look great and feel good about themselves with my products.
What was most rewarding about writing your book?
I still pinch myself when I think of the fact that I wrote a book. I still cannot believe it! The process of writing “One Lung to Live” was like riding a scary rollercoaster because it took me back to many sad thoughts and emotions that I never thought I would have to revisit. Even though the process was taxing, the reward is priceless. The most rewarding thing about writing my book is the ability to use my tragic story to inspire, empower and help others overcome adversity with God as their anchor. I am so proud to tell the world that I live because of God’s miraculous healing power! There were so many people that supported and prayed for me during my journey when I lost my lung. My tribe consisted of my parents, family, doctors, friends, and more. It was rewarding to be able to give them their flowers of thankfulness in as much detail as I wanted to in this book. I spent lots of time pouring out every ounce of love in my heart for them, so they will know without a doubt that I love and appreciate them.
Why should women invest more in self-care?
Women are multiple beings all in one. We are daughters, mothers, wives, friends, sisters, sisters in Christ, friends, and the list goes on and on. Each title that we carry requires us to give something different of ourselves to show our love, care, and concern. It is in our nature to be nurturers and take care of others, however, we cannot forget to take care of ourselves. We give or pour out so much on a daily basis, therefore it is important to acknowledge the need to refill or replenish what we lose when we give to others.
What would you like our readers to gain from this interview?
No matter what you do in life you will experience challenges. When you do, understand there is something in the challenge or painful experience that God will use to prepare you to reach your goals, help you be a better person, and bring you closer to Him. There is power and connection in sharing stories, so don’t be ashamed to share. Be bold and tell your story!
