Traditionally, at the beginning of a new year many of us commit to making better changes in our lives, such as budgeting our finances better, eating healthier, exercising, spending more time with family, traveling and the list goes on. Making these commitments gets us motivated to start our new journeys until “life” interrupts. By saying that I mean any situation that will take our focus off from what we want to achieve. Once this occurs, we tend to fall back into our old habits, which essentially is a comfort zone.

We need to take charge of conducting a better lifestyle. So many of us rush to work, rush to school, rush while we eat our food, rush to meetings and it’s shortening our lifespan. Creating a schedule that works for you and sticking to it can enhance good progress and less stress.

Working 9-5 makes for a full day for most of us, however we can still be in control of our well-being. Walking 15–30-minutes, taking deep breaths throughout the day, reading something of interest, listening to soothing music, praying.

Our intake of certain foods plays a factor in our temperament. Find a good cookbook with healthy recipes and limit fast food.  Periodically get a change of scenery. Take occasional trips or stay at home and pick a room to make a favorite change. Get rid of clutter. Clutter can be overwhelming, which can cause confusion and stress.

Budgeting our funds is important. Know what you can spend and how to spend so you don’t get any unwanted surprises. Reach out to a financial advisor if need be.

Maintaining better habits can make for a better lifestyle. We need to slow down and evaluate the choices we make from day to day. Focus on committing to a better lifestyle for you and your loved ones. Have a great year!
