Shanetta’s dedication to her community is unwavering. She proudly invests her time and resources in the local economy, ensuring that everything she does directly benefits her community.

Passion for Cancer Awareness: A Personal Journey

Shanetta’s advocacy for cancer awareness is as personal as it gets. “Breast cancer found me through my mother’s diagnosis and battle,” she shares. “When faced with any challenge, my first instinct is to dive in and get it done—this time was no different.”

From researching treatments and shadowing physicians to administering medication and caring for her mother, Shanetta immersed herself fully in understanding the complexities of breast cancer. Through her experience, she vowed to be a beacon of light for others navigating the disease.

Her passion led her to co-found T.I.T.T.S. (Taking It To The Streets), an organization that raises awareness and provides support for cancer fighters and survivors. Shanetta’s efforts have not only educated communities but have also provided scholarships to students pursuing careers in women’s health.

Get Your Titts Checked: A Simple Yet Powerful Message

Shanetta is known for her candid approach when it comes to cancer prevention and early detection: “The message is simple: Get Your Titts Checked!” She emphasizes the importance of understanding and listening to your body, knowing the risk factors, and recognizing that a diagnosis is not a death sentence. “Don’t let fear keep you in the dark—it’s better to know than to be too late.”

Her unapologetic advocacy has made a significant impact, particularly in her community, where she fosters a culture of openness and education.

Recognition for Advocacy and the Power of Community

This year, Shanetta is being honored for her contributions to cancer awareness at an upcoming Breast Cancer Awareness event in Bronzeville. For her, this recognition is deeply personal. “This honor is not just for me, it’s for my mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, and Frister, who I’ve supported through their journeys. It’s also for the communities we’ve educated and the individuals we’ve empowered.”

Her work through T.I.T.T.S. has supported countless women, from hosting events to providing scholarships. “The moments that bring me the most joy are when I can serve, support, and celebrate others.”

Leading Through Cancer Advocacy and Business

Shanetta’s leadership at the South Holland Business Association has seamlessly aligned with her cancer awareness efforts. She mobilized the community and formed partnerships with local businesses to amplify the message of cancer prevention and early detection. Her ability to create platforms for dialogue, education, and celebration has made a significant difference in the lives of many.

“By organizing events, we’re able to create opportunities for people to engage in important conversations about breast cancer and take charge of their health,” Shanetta shares. Her commitment to collaboration has been essential in raising awareness and building a stronger, more connected community.

Encouraging Action and Building an Empowered Community

For those hesitant to prioritize their health or get involved, Shanetta offers a compassionate nudge. “I always remind people to stay positive, stay motivated, and stay prayed up,” she says. Her personal story serves as an inspiration to others, fostering an environment where people feel comfortable sharing their fears and taking action.

Her role as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has also played a pivotal part in her advocacy efforts. “My Sorority Sisters have participated in events, donated resources, and supported our mission to celebrate survivors within our sisterhood,” Shanetta says. Earlier this year, she honored one of her Sorority Sisters, Marcia Williams, at the T.I.T.T.S. Inaugural Survivor’s Brunch.

Looking Ahead: Goals for the Future

Shanetta’s vision for the future includes expanding educational outreach and organizing more community events. “I plan to engage teens and create safe spaces for women fighting breast cancer. I also envision decorating yards and providing care packages for warriors undergoing treatment.”

For those looking to join Shanetta in making a difference, supporting year-round T.I.T.T.S. initiatives and attending the annual celebration at Leo Catholic High School are great places to start. “Together, we can create a supportive, active community that empowers people to advocate for their health and the health of others.”

Shanetta Davis is a remarkable leader whose dedication to cancer awareness and her community continues to inspire. Through her work with the South Holland Business Association, The Davis Connect, and T.I.T.T.S., she is making a lasting impact and creating a legacy of compassion, leadership, and service.
