3X JUNO Award-winning R&B star Savannah Ré is back with a self-assured anthem of resilience titled “Nine Lives,” out now via Matrimony Records – Listen HERE. With raw emotion, and an unflinching authenticity, the Canadian singer-songwriter shares her latest entry following February’s “Glory.”
Speaking on the new song, Savannah shares, “Nine Lives is an autobiography. It’s reclaiming the power of having gone through so many different phases and things that should’ve killed you, and coming out the other side bigger and better. This woman has so many layers and is stronger for it. The word ‘p*ssy’ can be seen as something vulgar and objectifying, but it really should be revered with all the POWER it holds and life it brings. You gon’ have to try 8 times harder to break me.”
“Nine Lives” finds Savannah Ré using her femininity to empower women around the world. The track marks a bold evolution in her journey, as she learns from past mistakes while embracing new beginnings. The result is a soothing, ethereal gem that invites listeners to acknowledge their strength and ability to bounce back from challenges.
So much has changed since Savannah Ré emerged on the scene with her critically-acclaimed debut EP, Opia. She has become a true R&B purveyor, proven repeatedly through her prolific run of high-profile collaborations, including songs with Babyface, Normani, Jessie Reyez, and Wondagurl, among many others.
Beyond her prowess as a songwriter, she has been recognized for her talent with other accolades, including nominations for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize, and the Polaris Music Prize – all the while cementing her place in history as the first artist to win the Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year JUNO Award for “Solid” and went on to consecutively win two more times with “24 hrs” and “Last One (ft. Dylan Sinclair)”
