Now a days, the world of nails has completely been revolutionized. Just like any industry, it’s growing and evolving. Over time, we’ve seen new advancements in nails but let’s face it, the real talent comes from our nail technicians – they deserve all the credit in the world. Samantha Ramirez, popularly known as Samy Nails is the real deal, and coming from a nail enthusiast such as myself, I believe she’s about to take over the nail industry. I had the chance to sit down with her to discuss her nail journey, what it was like working with artist, Karol G, and more!

How did you first get into nails?

I always had a passion for the world of beauty. When I arrived in this country, I was given the opportunity to work in a nail salon. That was where it all really began. I barely knew what a gel polish was and stayed until the wee hours of the morning improving my technique with my coworkers to become a professional.

Tell us about working with Karol G?

Working with her is feeling like a superstar. It is a unique moment, which I enjoy the most because of how humble of a person she is. It is a pleasure merging our ideas together and creating beautiful nail sets that she wants. I feel super comfortable with her, we always talk about everything. It is incredible to work with someone you can understand in every way, that even if it takes us 5-6 hours it is incredible.

What do you think is something misconceived about the nail industry?

They are always criticizing long nails. For me it is a form of empowerment they are a way of expressing that we are powerful women. Also, for me they are a luxurious accessory that can make a difference both in everyday life and in an artist like a red carpet.

Everyone does their nails as they please, some associate long nails with being ghetto. But that is not the case.

What are you working on now and what can we expect to see from you in 2022?

For 2022 I’ll surprise everyone with something I’ve always dreamed of. I plan on working with more industry artists, more extravagant sets and a year with full of success.
