Get ready beacuse I’m about to introduce you to a natural, handmade soap brand that will completely change the way you look at skincare. Jade Johnson, the founder and creator of Rose Chic Artisan Soap is a woman who is on a mission to provide people with the best of the best when it comes to natural, handmade soaps. We caught up with her to discuss the inspiration behind Rose Chic, launching during a global pandemic, and much more.
What inspired you to create Rose Chic?
I was inspired to create Rose Chic because I fell in love with craft making. That was the beginning, truly. I learned how to make home fragrances such as candles and wax melts, which transitioned into soap. Once I started to make soap, I began researching the qualities and benefits of homemade soap and I was hooked. I wanted to create a product that was good for your skin, wasn’t full of nasty chemicals, and allowed you to level-up your daily body care routines!
What makes Rose Chic stand out amongst its competitors?
What makes Rose Chic stand out amongst its competitors is that it is a Black Owned company and we are truthful about the ingredients in our soap. A lot of soap companies out there like to make false claims about their soap when the main purpose of soap is to clean your body and make you smell good.
What would you say is your favorite product from the line, why?
My favorite product from the line is our Oatmeal, Milk + Honey bar because the fragrance is out of this world. Our formula is crafted to have a creamy feel and wonderful lather. So those two-combined makes that one my favorite. This was the first bar on our site that completely sold out. Every single person that placed an order had this fragrance in their cart. I love to keep a couple of these out of every batch just for myself.
What all does Rose Chic offer?
Right now, Rose Chic only offers handmade soaps. In the future, we plan to offer body oils, body butters and more.
What was it like launching in the midst of a pandemic?
Launching in the midst of a pandemic was very stressful, yet rewarding! The biggest hurdle I had to overcome was shipping times and lots of material and ingredients being on backorder or simply out of stock for weeks at a time. Other than that, I received so much support from my friends and family that we continued to work hard to launch even during uncertain times.
What do you hope to accomplish with Rose Chic in the future?
I have big plans for Rose Chic in the future. I hope to open up a store front and grow substantially in the online E-Commerce space. I also would love for Rose Chic to create jobs, and hire a team to help run the business. I aspire for Rose Chic to have a name in the body and skin care industry and be around for a long time. My fiancé helps me out a lot, in regard to packing orders, making the products and even down to taking my product photos and I want this business to become bigger than both of us combined.
