Atlanta Restaurateur, Philanthropist, and Entrepreneur, Ebony Austin led the charge of supporting this upcoming electoral race by hosting a presidential rally for Democratic Candidate, Vice President, Kamala Harris. The event took place Sunday, October 27th at her restaurant, Nouveau Bar & Grill located in Jonesboro, Georgia. The rally, spun with tunes by DJ  Dubble K., excited voters and supporters of Democratic Presidential Nominee Vice President Kamala Harris. The event garnered a vast turnout of attendees and supporters, filled with local elected officials and supporters of Democratic Candidate Harris. Of the attendees at the rally, Ebony warmly welcomed second gentleman, Doug Emhoff, Lawyer, Activist and husband to Presidential Candidate, Kamala Harris, along with her sister, Lawyer and Activist, Maya Harris. BothEmhoff and Maya Harris, two of the many members a part of the Harris Waltz campaign–visited many local black businesses throughout Georgia and made it their mission to speak at Nouveau Bar & Grill to thank the community for support and stress the importance of registering and voting in this upcoming election.

Nouveau Bar & Grill is one of Atlanta’s leading restaurants and go-to spots. Known for its exquisite taste and menu, the restaurant has garnered national and regional recognition not only for its delectable food selections, but also for its signature grits line sold in 180 Publix and 45 Food Lion stories through Georgia — with 100% of the proceeds going towards funding and supporting the education of many Black students to attend and matriculate to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Ebony Austin is a trailblazing, visionary restaurateur and serial entrepreneur who has made it her life’s mission to give back to HBCUs. This upcoming election has stressed the importance for the youth and the next generation using their voices to vote for change within our nation which echoes Ebony’s mission is to support and rally behind the youth, and with Candidate Vice President Harris’ mission, as an HBCU grad like Austin, to impact black students and the younger generation, it pushed her to use her business, Nouveau Bar & Grill, to invite the local community to rally and come together for change. The rally was a fast turnaround that took only a few days to prepare, however Austin felt compelled to support as a local black entrepreneur to facilitate a space for the public to fellowship and rally for an election that will impact millions of lives. The rally received innumerous support from fellow entrepreneurs, friends, family and local Georgia residents.

“Georgia is a key battleground state, and I felt compelled to be a part of the change that I want to see,”says Restaurateur and Philanthropist, Ebony Austin of Nouveau Bar and Grill. “So when we got the call from the Democratic Party to host a rally at Nouveau, I did not hesitate because I know that Georgia is a key state, and I wanted to create a space where everyone, both the young and old, could gather to get informed, and understand how crucial this next election is going to be for all of voices to be heard.”

Michelle, and more for her delectable cuisine, but also as a hometown hero. During Black History Month, Austin teamed up with Essence’s Girls United to host the Ultimate HBCU Scholarship Giveaway, where they presented two scholarships per week throughout the month of February. This past Christmas, she made national headlines as she gifted thousands of families at her annual toy drive — with cash, gift cards, gaming systems, electronics and more. She also gave away two homes to families in need and presented $5,000 to HBCU students. For Thanksgiving, Nouveau teamed up with actress Naturi Naughton and TV personality, Marlo Hampton to hand out 600 turkeys to needy families at their Jonesboro location. The year prior, Nouveau partnered with CeeLo Green to provide turkeys for metro Atlanta families. More recently, Austin partnered with U.S. Foods to provide 18-wheeler trucks filled with vegetables, and necessities for families facing food insecurity at both Howard University and Morehouse College, and just last year, the restaurateur surprised and gifted a deserving Howard University student with a $15,000 scholarship on Good Morning America, as featured via FORBES. Each month, Ebony’s restaurant, Nouveau Bar & Grill gives out free dinners to medical professionals, writes checks to area schools and collects toys for the holidays and offers discounts to residents.
