Flutist and dynamic recording artist Darryl Evan Jones has cemented himself as a legitimate force in contemporary jazz and is beloved around the world.
Known as the Ambassador of Instrumental Soul, the Bronx born and raised musician began his professional music odyssey with a late 1990’s appearance on “Showtime At The Apollo”. Feeling empowered by the experience, Jones soon founded the independent record label, JonesStar Entertainment LLC. Over time, collaborating with Jim Woodlyn, Wayne Garrick, Adam Hawley, Jay Condiotti and Jerrod Sullivan, (among others) would produce hits from albums “On My Own” (2000), “Dream” (2006), “Relentless” (2013) and “Resilient” (2024). These efforts would also claim places on Radio Wave Groove Jazz, SJ Network, Smoothjazz.club, and Urban Influencer Smooth Jazz charts.
Recognized for his outstanding playing style, Darryl Evan Jones has been the opening act for Boney James, Howard Hewett, Jeff Lorber and Kem. He’s also the winner of the 2024 “Made In New York Jazz Competition” Solo Instrumental Category.
NEW SINGLE
It’s not part of his latest album “Resilient”, so Darryl Evan Jones decided to take a bit of a detour and release a very spirited song titled “Mi Antilles” (pronounced “Mee Ant-ill-ees) – and do so in time for Black History Month. “Mi Antilles” is a song that remembers, pays homage to and celebrates African ancestors who were transported to the Caribbean islands to work the plantations as slaves – many who would later thrive on those same islands. Jones magnificently captures the Afro-Caribbean essence in a way most unique to Instrumental Soul. Already, gaining lots of attention through a YouTube video, “Mi Antilles” is destined to inspire the minds and hearts of music lovers the world over. The official single release date is January 31, 2025, and will be available for digital download and streaming everywhere.
