On Friday, July 19, multi-talented comedian and actor Vena “Pretty Vee” E. took the nosy Jamaican auntie Sharon from the front porch to the main stage with her first one-night-only live show in Atlanta. Her skits highlighted relatable aspects of Jamaican culture that resonated with everyone in attendance.

From the moment attendees entered the theater lobby, they were met with the essence of Jamaican culture. The space was adorned with festive decorations, featuring bright, tropical colors and Caribbean-inspired art. Fans were also greeted by videos of Pretty Vee’s friends, including Cardi B, Winnie Harlow, Safaree, and Katt Williams, hyping her and her character, Sharon. In true Caribbean fashion, beef patty stands and an open bar added to the authentic atmosphere, while bouquets of flowers from friends and family further celebrated Vee’s milestone. Some fans embraced the theme by wearing shirts with “I Love Sharoonnn” and attire that echoed the Caribbean vibe. The cultural ambiance in the room perfectly set the tone for the high-energy, relatable performances that followed.

It was clear that fans were eagerly anticipating the event, as evidenced by the sold-out show with no empty seats, reflecting the high level of excitement and support from Pretty Vee’s fanbase. She spoke candidly about her transition from social media sketches to her first live show, admitting that while she was both excited and nervous, her dedication to her craft shone through. Her nerves were nowhere to be seen, as the audience’s enthusiastic response and laughter were proof of their enjoyment.

“You ain’t in your own house anymore. I think it is a space now for preparing for people who don’t get it and who do get it,” Vee said. She also mentioned that DC Young Fly advised her, “Don’t perform for the people; perform for you, and they will catch.”

Sharon, inspired by her Jamaican mom and auntie, was the perfect character to connect with her fans for this milestone live show. Vee’s viral characters, many of which draw from her family upbringing, aim to deliver not just humor but also meaningful messages.

She ensures that her skits include life lessons, a reflection of her upbringing as a preacher’s kid. “I am a PK, my mom is a pastor, and she just said make sure you put yourself in a space of being respectful,” Vee explained. This background has influenced her desire to blend comedy with lessons, showcasing her roots and values in a way that resonates with her audience.

“Growing up in a Caribbean household, all I saw was tough love,” said Vee. “I wanted to truly be the Wendy Williams of the Caribbean world. My inspiration came from that space and schooling the people in a funny way.”

Fans were in for a special treat that evening. In addition to witnessing Pretty Vee’s debut live performance, they enjoyed skits featuring well-known comedian DC Young Fly. The surprises continued as she brought out B. Simone and featured a special guest performance by Shenseea, which further enhanced the Caribbean theme of the night.

Stay tuned as Pretty Vee plans to take Sharon on the road! More exciting performances are on the horizon.
