Mother’s day is right around the corner! DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic special will feature artists and musicians performing a verse of your favorite song before “passing the mic” onto the next artist.
Earth, Wind, and Fire’s singer, Philip Bailey and bassist, Verdine White will start with “That’s The Way of the World” from their homes. Cassidy then calls Patrice Rushen who will perform “You Remind Me.” Following Rushen is Michael Jackson’s longtime collaborator Siedah Garrett singing “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.” In addition, Deniece Williams will join to perform “Cause You Love Me Baby.”
It was just recently announced that icon, Patti Labelle and Johnny Gill will also make an appearance. This musical journey will start on Sunday, May 9th on BET at 9 PM EST. This special is part of Cassidy and BET’s partnership. This partnership [announced March 2021] will include six “DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic” airing throughout the year.
The first Pass The mic special premiered after the NAACP Image Awards and featured big names such as Ginuwine, Montell Jordan, Next, Donell Jones, Soul For Real, Carl Thomas, Brownstone, Adina Howard, Dru Hill, Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Gina Thompson, Missy Elliot, 112, Mase, SWV and Wyclef Jean.
