“Go Girl” was originally previewed on Kalan’s X (formerly Twitter) profile and later leaked on SoundCloud almost four years ago. After hearing the snippet, fans clamored for an official release, asking when they could expect the full version of the track. And today, he finally delivers his anticipated single.
Not allowing the weight of responsibility to hold anyone down, Kalan’s latest offering is an uplifting gem where the hustle never stops. It’s a token of appreciation for the hardworking women around the world, and the supporting visual embodies that sense of feminine grit. The video, directed by Zaeim Kamara and sponsored by skincare brand Topicals, follows a young woman who skillfully juggles the demands of pursuing a college degree while simultaneously working as an exotic dancer – Watch HERE.
Riding the momentum of a banner 2024 marked by a collaborative album with Mozzy – LUCKY HER – and his critically-acclaimed EP, MAKE THE WEST GREAT AGAIN, Kalan heralds a new chapter in his musical journey with “Go Girl.” The song solidifies his status as an artist to watch this year, showcasing his knack for making the kind of richly textured melodic rap that resonates with a broad audience.
It’s been a momentous run for Kalan over the past year. Last summer, he performed at Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth ‘Pop Out’ concert, where he was joined onstage by G Perico to perform their collab “Right Wit It” during DJ Hed’s set. He quickly followed that up with another energetic showcase on the 2024 BET Awards Pre-Show stage. In addition, Kalan brought back his annual event, TwoFr Day, for its fifth installment and supplied local communities with free food, school supplies, shoes, and much more.
