Multi-talented jack of all trades Youniq Love from Johnstown, PA is an Entrepreneur, Music Artist, and Fashion Designer. The small-towner with big dreams takes pride in her work and aspires to one day have everyone rocking her clothing line called Royalti.
6 years ago, Youniq took an interest in designing. Once she brainstormed the name, everything came to fruition. She wants everyone to look and feel like Royalti and also feel unique, hence the spelling of the brand name.
As a music artist, her second EP will drop in the summer of 2023. The first EP, ‘I am Youniq” is currently out on all major platforms. Now that the world is opened back up Youniq is looking forward to getting back out on the stage.
Growing up in a household that loved R&B music, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Keith Sweat, and Michael Jackson became some of your musical influences. What is it about these legends that made your decision to pursue a career in the music industry?
Youniq: We all know that with some of these names, there is no doubt who is the greatest entertainer of all time! These music artists are legendary because of what they did for music in their generation, however, their influence won’t ever die. They definitely paved the way and gave hope to aspiring artists like myself. However, Mary J. Blige has had the biggest impact on me. I have been listening to her since I was a kid. Her voice is so soulful, and her music is real. When I turn her music on, my mood instantly changes, I feel empowered and uplifted. The vibe of Mary J.Blige’s music is probably one of the biggest influences because of how it makes you feel. When people hear my music I want them to feel it, I want it to make them feel better or have a good time. I hope one day to meet her and even work with her or be mentored by her.
What has your journey been like so far as a music artist? Have there been any challenges you had to overcome? If so, in what ways have you overcome those challenges to stay career motivated?
Youniq: As an aspiring music artist, I have faced many challenges, from just getting my foot in the door. Where I am from there isn’t a lot of famous people or music industry professionals around to take you under their wing and show you the ropes. It‘s by the grace of God that I have been able to figure a few things out. I have overcome challenges by staying motivated to believe one day it will happen! You have to believe and dream big and the fact that I know it can happen keeps me going because one day it will.
It takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes to thrive as a multitalented creator on your path to being an Entrepreneur, Music Artist, and Fashion Designer. How do you balance your personal and professional life?
Youniq: I must say a calendar has helped me stay afloat. And when I say calendar, I mean a digital one on my phone to set reminders and a physical one in front of me to write down what I need to do, and where I need to be.
As the owner of the fashion brand Royalti, how would you describe your fashion style and clothing line?
Youniq: I love fashion. I love putting together color schemes and outfits that are like Okay I see you. I have always been different and marched to the beat of my own drum. However, I grew up with the designers of Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada and they are great designers however everyone isn’t in a place where they can drop thousands of dollars on a new shirt. So with my own fashion sense, I wanted to create something edgy but affordable. In history before slavery, we as a race were Pharaohs, Kings, and Queens! We were royalty in our own way, so if I can choose who I want to be, I would be Royalti. Of course, the name is spelled differently just to put my stamp of Youniqness on it. I want people to feel confident, feel good, look good, and command the room when they walk in. My name Youniq comes from Unique, which means different set apart. I changed the spelling because I know who I am, I am not like everyone, I don’t look like everyone, and I don’t sound like everyone. I am me, and I love that for me. I embrace every part of myself, and I OWN it. I am Youniq!
What are some of your long-term goals and what steps are you taking to get there?
Youniq: My long terms goals are to network with other like-minded individuals and push my brand. I am looking for the opportunity to network and go to the next level. This year I was able to really get established, so I just want to push, push, push, and let Royalti speak for itself. I would like to start looking for brand ambassadors and influencers that I can work with that would like to represent the brand.
Any exclusive news you can share with us first?
Youniq: I feel like this is my year, I feel like I am one step away from where I want to go, so therefore you have to follow me to know what’s new and what’s next!
Any shoutouts you would like to give to those who have supported you and your career?
Youniq: I just want to shout out Lakisa Renee Entertainment and Visionary Minds and to all my fans and supporters, it’s my Turn now, I’m Up next, we about to Glow Up!
