Media Girls LA’s 2nd Annual Media Honors Brunch marked the perfect start to BET Awards week, bringing together the brightest stars and trailblazers in media for a day of celebration, networking, and inspiration. Sponsored by Millennials Naturals and Janet Collection, this highly anticipated event was an unforgettable experience set against the stunning backdrop of a mansion in the Hollywood Hills.

Reflecting on last year’s inaugural celebration, we recall the profound sense of community and recognition as we honored trailblazers like Karen Civil, Sidnee Douyon, Derrian “Phreshy” Perry, Luke Lawal, and Miracle Watts. Their stories of perseverance and success set the stage for what has now become a cherished tradition, inspiring many in the media industry.

This year, as we kicked off BET Week, we gathered once again to celebrate a new group of extraordinary individuals who have made significant impacts in their fields. Among the honorees were:

  • Tasha McCaskiel, the visionary CEO of Black Girls In Media, who continues to pave the way for diversity and inclusion.
  • Nina Parker, with her vibrant presence as a talk show personality, has touched countless lives with her authenticity and grace.
  • Kyle Simpson, the dynamic CEO of The Neighborhood Talk, keeps us informed and connected with his engaging content.
  • Arnell Armon, a beloved beauty content creator, inspires confidence and creativity in her audience through her innovative tutorials and tips.
  • Gia Peppers, a captivating TV host, brings stories to life with charm and charisma, leaving a lasting impact on viewers.
  • Kwaylon “BlameitonKway” Rogers, an actor and Instagram sensation, brings joy and laughter to millions with his comedic genius.

Each honoree embodies the spirit of innovation, resilience, and excellence. Their journeys are not just personal triumphs but shared victories that uplift our community, highlighting the importance of perseverance and passion in the media industry.

Guests enjoyed specialty drinks from Mezcal Rosaluna and The Roche Collection, captured memorable moments at the Pixi Photobooth, and mingled with industry peers. The atmosphere at the brunch was filled with genuine surprise and heartfelt emotion as each honoree realized their close friends were not only present to support them but also to deliver personal, touching speeches. These moments underscored the deep bonds of friendship and mutual inspiration that drive our community forward.

Adding a personal touch to this year’s celebration, media personality Danielle Young presented a heartfelt speech to her close friend and honoree Gia Peppers, highlighting the profound impact Gia has had on her and the media community. In a surprise moment, Nina Parker was honored by her close friend, actress Nichelle Hines, who shared a moving tribute about their inspiring friendship and Nina’s influential career.

The event was a showcase of excellence in media, celebrating TV personalities, talk show hosts, media moguls, and social media pioneers. Attendees left inspired and empowered, with full gift bags provided by Janet Collection, ensuring they took a piece of the magic home with them.

The brunch was not only a recognition of individual achievements but also a testament to the power of community and collaboration within the media industry. It set the tone for an exciting week ahead, leading up to the BET Awards, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration.
