Kenisha Nichelle’s story is one of triumph over tragedy. Despite losing her father to a brain aneurysm at 12 and her mother to breast cancer in college, she has become a trailblazer in the sports industry. Her operational work with organizations like the Miami Dolphins and the Super Bowl Committee has left a lasting impact. Kenisha’s passion for helping others is evident in her founding of Game Changers United, a platform for athletes to conquer challenges, and Brighter Tomorrow Foundation Inc., providing resources for those navigating grief. Her journey inspires resilience and purpose in others.

Can you tell us about your journey and how you became a trailblazer in the sports industry?

Kenisha Nichelle: My journey began with personal tragedy, losing my father to a brain aneurysm at 12 and my mother to breast cancer in college. These experiences fueled my drive to succeed. Pivoting from athletic trainer to sports administration, I worked tirelessly in events and operations, making significant contributions to organizations like the Miami Dolphins, Orange Bowl Committee, and Super Bowl Committee. While sports is my passion, I am called to mentor student-athletes, which has led me to found Game Changers United, a resource for athletes to conquer life challenges as high school or college students.

What inspired you to start Brighter Tomorrow Foundation Inc.?

Kenisha Nichelle: The inspiration came during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the world losing so many people, I realized there was a need for resources and support for people navigating their grief. Through my own experience with loss and grief, I was motivated to share my story and help others. There’s a unique sense of understanding when there are shared experiences.

What unique challenges have you faced as a woman entrepreneur in the sports industry?

Kenisha Nichelle: As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I faced challenges in being taken seriously sometimes and gaining respect. There were times I had to work twice as hard to prove my capabilities. But I’ve learned to “own my greatness”. I have a God-given ability to do what I do, and I bring that confidence into every room I enter into.

What advice would you give to women entrepreneurs who are facing their personal challenges?

Kenisha Nichelle: Embrace your journey, no matter how difficult it may be. Your experiences shape you and can become your greatest strengths. Surround yourself with a supportive community, and don’t be afraid to seek help when needed. Remember, resilience and authenticity are powerful tools for overcoming obstacles and achieving success.

Can you tell us more about your grief coloring book and journal?

Kenisha Nichelle: I created a grief coloring book and journal to provide a unique and creative outlet for those navigating grief. I was introduced to art therapy early in my life and it’s been a therapeutic tool to calm the mind. Volume 1 of the book provides general affirmations and messaging, while Volume 2 is based on familiar Bible verses. These resources are designed to help individuals process their emotions and find comfort and healing through creativity and reflection.

What separates your brand from others in the industry?

Kenisha Nichelle: What sets my brand apart is my lived experience. I’ve not only faced and overcome significant personal challenges, but I’ve also achieved professional success in the sports industry. This combination of personal and professional resilience gives me a unique perspective and authenticity that resonates with my audience.

How do you hope readers will benefit from your story and work?

Kenisha Nichelle: I hope readers will be inspired by my story and realize that there is always hope no matter how challenging their journey may be. I want them to see that resilience and faith can help them overcome any obstacle. If my story encourages even one person not to give up, it will be a victory.
