Detroit’s own economist turned financial powerhouse, and investment guru Jewel Tankard is on a mission to support women across the globe to excel and own their wealth by trusting their financial instincts. As co-founder of the Tankard Foundation and the creator of the Millionaires Club, she’s empowered more than 250,000 women to discover a new life of wealth and independence. Now in their sixth year of serving, she’s giving away $500 cash to 20 single families throughout
the US. The matriarch of Bravo’s hit reality TV Show Thicker Than Water, the star of FOX Soul’s Chatter, and The Jewel Tankard Show on the IMPACT Network, she knows the challenges of being a single parent and struggling financially. Jewel says, “This is very personal to me. I wanted to give back because I’ve been a single parent and needed financial assistance.”
Jewel continued by saying that when her first marriage ended, she was left with nothing and knew she needed to change her life and become physically stronger and financially healthier.
“I started an organization called the Millionaireness Club. The whole purpose of creating the club was to teach women how to develop short-and long-term wealth strategies. Most women don’t trust their financial gut; they depend on their husbands and boyfriends to make decisions for them, and not that the guys have bad intentions, but it’s just not reasonable to ever turn your financial future over to somebody else when you could cultivate that gift and develop that gift. We teach every wealth strategy that is out there. As I learn new ones, I bring them to them, and we talk it out because many of them don’t think they can do it because they’re a mom or a wife. But the reality is your children need you to be wealthy. When you don’t have money, it impacts everything; whether your children go to school, whether they don’t go to school, what they eat, or whether they go to the Boys and Girls club for summer camp or Europe. I want to see women; mainly, we have men in the club, too; I want to see them live their dreams.”

We chatted things up at lunch in beautiful downtown Birmingham, Michigan, and it was like sitting with girlfriends. While dining on delicious cuisines, she educated me on my reduced sodium intake. I appreciated that. So get some friends who are about your health and wealth.
“Be about your investments,” Jewel says. “I call it employing your money. Go beyond working for your money.” Sis’s okay to look good, but what do you own? Is your money working for you? Are you buying assets that create high-yielding returns?”
