There’s a nostalgic hypnotism in .idk.’s music and style, and today, he’s at his most versatile with a brand-new single. Titled “SUPERNOVA,” the song provides an intimate glimpse of his journey to honesty, written out of an urgent desire with melodic finesse.
Refreshing and original, .idk. oscillates between singing and rapping as he decodes his feelings. In that vulnerable moment, the man born Jason Mills reconfigures an explosive love with poetic sensibilities. It’s deeply personal, yet artfully depicted, and follows on from the announcement of his highly-anticipated album, BRAVADO INTiMO.
JaVonte, a talented singer and songwriter, was one of the first to champion .idk. early in his career. Years later, JaVonte’s 2013 track “Supernova” became a creative catalyst for .idk. during the making of his upcoming album. Paying homage to a hidden gem deserving wider recognition, .idk. reimagined the record in his own style, blending his rap with JaVonte’s soulful influence, ultimately creating a unique sonic experience that earned heartfelt praise from “the artist’s artist.”
With a concise 32-minute runtime and a focus on conceptual clarity, BRAVADO INTiMO, due November 1st, emerges as one of .idk.’s most accessible and cohesive projects to date. The album is primed for widespread acclaim and boasts guest verses from Gunna, Joey Bada$$, The ARTI$T, and Conway The Machine.
Continuing his creative hot streak, the new album includes his recent chart-climbing hit “TiFFANY,” feat. Gunna, the HYPEBEASTpraised single “DENiM” feat. Joey Bada$$, as well as his dual release 2:22 (“KiCKIN” + “TiFFANY”) which arrived alongside .idk.’s exclusive giveaway of a reimagined ultra-coveted Tiffany 2:22 Datejust Rolex Watch.
On the new album .idk. shares “My goal with this album was to simplify everything. With B.i., I just wanted to sing over beats that artists like MF DOOM would normally rap over and only rap when it felt the most natural.” Drawing inspiration from his past collaborations with late rap legend MF DOOM, .idk. oscillates between singing and rapping, creating a seamless experience that captivates listeners from start to finish. His efforts provide bars, vocals, production, and even creative direction for a very specific language in a world that he governs quite well. BRAVADO INTiMO provides a new palette for the future of melodic rap while capturing the essence of hip-hop’s foundation.
