Have you ever needed a beauty service but struggled to find someone who meets your needs on your terms? Mimbbo is revolutionizing the beauty industry, one step at a time. Founded by Camille Awator, Mimbbo was born out of her own personal experiences in the beauty industry. She began developing the platform in 2020, but it wasn’t until late 2024 that the official soft launch took place. Since then, she has been refining and expanding the platform to better serve both beauty professionals and clients.
With over a decade of experience as a hairstylist, working in salons and as a freelancer, Camille witnessed firsthand the challenges beauty professionals face. She also witnessed the struggles customers encountered when searching for the right beauty services. Many relied on social media or word of mouth, methods that are often unreliable and time consuming. Recognizing this gap, she envisioned Mimbbo as a solution.
Mimbbo isn’t just about booking beauty services, it’s about creating a thriving beauty economy where services, recommendations, and inspiration all exist in one place. “We’re not just helping people book beauty services; we’re building a community that empowers beauty professionals and makes beauty more accessible to everyone,” Camille explains.
So, how does Mimbbo work? Instead of endlessly searching for a provider, customers simply post their beauty needs, set a budget, and let professionals claim the job. When customers sign up, they also receive a $25 credit towards any service they’d like on Mimbbo! This innovative approach shifts the traditional beauty booking model, giving customers more flexibility while providing professionals with direct access to opportunities, without the unnecessary barriers.
Camille shares that one of the biggest challenges in launching Mimbbo was setting it apart from traditional booking platforms. To tackle this, they positioned Mimbbo as a gig economy platform rather than just another booking app. By emphasizing service requests, open work opportunities, and community- driven beauty solutions, they’ve built a model that feels more intuitive for independent professionals and customers who value flexibility.
When beauty consumers truly feel understood, they engage more deeply and leave more satisfied. That’s why Mimbbo is continuously exploring smart recommendations to enhance user experience, especially in product discovery and service matching, to efficiently connect customers with the right beauty services and products.
Looking ahead, their vision is to make Mimbbo the go- to beauty discovery engine, a one- stop platform where users can find trusted beauty services, personalized recommendations, and inspiration all in one place. Whether someone is searching for a hairstylist for their wedding, a nail tech for their birthday, learning a new makeup technique, or looking for the best products for their skin, Mimbbo offers peer- vetted, expert- approved solutions.
To further expand, Mimbbo is launching campus activations beginning at Clark Atlanta University and Spelman College to build awareness and strengthen community connections. College students are always searching for beauty services, and Mimbbo is providing a safe space for both customers and beauty professionals to connect and grow. Since beauty is such a major part of campus culture, Mimbbo wants students to know they’re here for them!
As Mimbbo continues to grow, its mission remains the same, to empower beauty professionals and consumers through innovation, community, and accessibility. By bridging the gap between service providers and those seeking expert beauty solutions, Mimbbo is redefining how people discover and book beauty services. With exciting initiatives on the horizon and a commitment to enhancing user experience, the platform is set to become an essential hub for beauty lovers everywhere. This is just the beginning and Mimbbo is ready to shape the future of beauty one service at a time!
