The Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Giveaway, a successful initiative led by Jacqueline Snell, has wrapped, having supported over 900 families including those affected by the recent California wildfire crisis. For many years Snell has dedicated herself to supporting families in need through her nonprofit organization, Jazzy Jam for Empowerment (JJE). JJE addresses critical social issues, mental health, and wellness, and it also helps families unable to afford prom attire. Snell’s commitment has transformed countless lives, providing essential support during difficult times.
The Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Dress & Suit Giveaway was extended over a month, culminating on April 13, 2025, due to the significant impact of the California wildfires that ravaged Altadena, CA. The community rallied behind the initiative, with numerous sponsors, major brands, and organizations stepping in to help. Notably, The Paseo donated two retail spaces for the event, showcasing the power of collective generosity.
When the news traveled, Hollywood creatives, brands, retailers, community and more supported Snell’s initiative providing personalized styling for attendees to ensure each student left with a smile. Each attendee received dedicated support from a personal shopper, who guided them in selecting the perfect outfit, complete with accessories and shoes to enhance their look.
The giveaway’s impact extended far beyond alleviating financial burdens. “This initiative is about more than just providing attire; it’s about empowering our youth and instilling a sense of confidence and community,” Snell explains. She also launched “The WaterCooler Room,” a special initiative designed to offer students a safe space to unwind and connect.
Jazzy Jam’s reach was significantly enhanced through partnerships with local organizations, creating a robust support network for students. This year’s partners included: Darnay Holmes’ foundation The Chosen One Foundation, DSW, Colibri, Councilman Tyron Hampton, BECCA’s Closet, Neighborhood Survants, Onni Group®, Sephora, Soul to Soul Solutions, the Pasadena Police Department, the Pasadena Fire Department, the Young Black Males Conference, the Black Education Expo, PCPR Communications, Copies Plus Media, Birdy Grey, Clever Girl Productions, El Sueño, For Love & Lemons, Gianni Suits, Likely, Quixote, Cinq à Sept, Mcy’s, Chanel, and a host of anonymous donors.
“In challenging times, community support is crucial,” states Greg Wilks, Senior Vice President of Commercial Leasing and Property Management at ONNI Group. “By offering a venue at The Paseo, we’re fostering a space where generosity can flourish—enabling the distribution of prom dresses and suits to those impacted by the wildfires. Together, we can restore hope and confidence to those who need it most.”
The Jazzy Jam Glam Prom Giveaway serves as a powerful example of community support and the positive impact that can arise when individuals and organizations come together for a common cause. This annual event provided vital assistance to over 900 families in and fostered a sense of community and empowerment among the youth.
