Super Bowl LVI weekend did not disappoint. In early February, people from all over the world gathered in Los Angeles to watch the big game. With beautiful weather and the air of excitement all around, the city was bustling with fun. Upon my arrival in LA and being full of the opinion that the Los Angeles Rams would win, (and they did) it made the weekend even more magical.
Now that we are in March and celebrating Women’s History Month, it is my pleasure to highlight two incredible women who are leading the way for others with their pioneering spirits and zest for bringing like-minded people together.
On February 11th, I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by two amazing and innovative women—Lela Christine, the Executive Director of Lifestyle Elevation Media, and Tashiba Jones-Wilson, owner of MaTtE ArGyLe boutique in Playa Vista. Both wonderful ladies are alumni of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Talk about blending fashion with football! The two worked seamlessly together to create a memorable weekend for all.
The event, coined as “The Best Lifestyle Luxury Pop-Up Shop” was designed to bring creators and entrepreneurs to the forefront by highlighting the grand things they are doing in their communities and beyond. There were so many fabulous brands in attendance. The foundation’s mission is built on providing quality education program initiatives in technology, financial literacy, and the art community.
The event also included a very special salute to recognize Collette V. Smith who is the NFL’s first Black female coach. She has been through so much and uses her platform to encourage young girls all over the world. She is incredibly inspiring, and the support shown to her was second to none.
Celebrities, athletes, and even the Mayor of Inglewood, James T. Butts came through to show love and admiration for the event. I was able to capture some wonderful footage as well as interviews with Collette V. Smith, Mayor James T. Butts, Jasmine Davis, Blessed from the Roots, Positive Clothing Wear, the awesome Moshe Lewis from Music & Medicine, and many more.
Events like this are so important to the community. Not only are these women building bridges that will provide information and resources for entrepreneurs, but they are also creating powerful relationships that span beyond their community that will benefit many generations to come.
