Unique, vibrant, stylish, bold and couture are just a few ways to describe the talented designs of Creatvhor.
Vhor’s fashion journey began with her grandmother, who was a seamstress and a huge influence. Her grandmother sewed everything from school uniforms to special event outfits for Vhor. Once her grandmother could no longer sew, Vhor started designing her own clothing around age 13, and took them to a tailor for sewing. Vhor, is self-taught in fashion and didn’t attend a school for design, however she does have a background in architecture.
She admires many fashion designers, but her biggest influence comes from her own desire to create beautiful things. She shares she’s especially inspired by ethnic and African fashion which connect to her roots.
The designer currently does not sew, nor does she have a seamstress. She’s focusing on designing and showcasing her work on social media to attract the right partnerships or investors. She shares that in the near future, she plans to take sewing classes and eventually build her own team to create her brand.
She creates all her designs herself from the colors, material and textures. She names her design collections from the vibes the collections give off and then brainstorms 3 or 4 names that reflect it well. The designer explains, the “Monolith Collection” features bold, structured designs inspired by architectural forms. It combines rich textures and unique silhouettes. “Echoes Of Elegance” and “Threaded Reverie” include other names of her collections. Vhor shares, besides thinking ahead about colors, patterns and textures she considers the feelings or sentiments she wants to convey with her designs. Vhor, also utilizes AI. She writes down her ideas as prompts to generate images with AI. She shares AI is not as easy to use as people think. She explains even though the program creates the image you must know what to ask for. Sometimes it takes days to get the concept she wants and other times she must adjust her ideas to bring her vision to life.
The Designer shares she loves all her designs and doesn’t get discouraged when something doesn’t go right with the design and she has to start all over again. She says she just reminds herself it’s a part of the creative process. She takes a break or sets the design aside for the next day when her mind is fresh.
Vhor, shares tips for aspiring designers to stay curious and think outside the box.
