Chaos and confusion are apparent over the last couple of weeks, since the start of COVID-19; as well as selfishness and fear. COVID- 19 is the talk of 2020 sweeping through the world stage, ruling people’s lives in different ways. Faith and hope seem to be lost for many in the everyday unknown, Which still brings the question into place “Where is Humanity”? Looking around at how everything is transpiring it reminded me of an old song by Marving Gaye that was written in the ’70s called “What’s going on” the first verse states, “Mother, Mother, There’s too many of you crying, Brother, Brother, Brother, There’s far too many of you dying, you know we’ve got to find a way to bring some lovin here today” (Motown greatest hits Marvin Gaye). As time keeps passing the pandemonium of fear and paranoia has caused mayhem in the grocery stores, causing people to hoard supplies selfishly or price gouge leaving nothing for the elderly, autoimmune compromised or people who need diapers and milk for babies. People having to hunt to find what they need to find some sense of normalcy, while fear has continued to show a different side of people in a negative light. Is this what humanity is?

The United States has had its share of constant fights from the spanish flu, polio outbreak, vietnam war, segregation, civil rights movements, assisnation of Medgar Evers, and John F. Kennedy just to name a few. But in the midst of everything a little hope appeared and his name was Martin Luther King Jr. and his speech was “ I Have A Dream” it was a speech that created hope when it felt lost. The speech rings loud and is remembered through history; Martin Luther King Jr. stated in his speech  “I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together” (source: NPR). The line “The glory of Lord Shall be revealed” rings ever so clearly in this moment in time, just like every other moment in time we made it through and this time should not be any different. But, In the world of social media , cell phones, social distancing, political divides, racial divides, religious freedoms and sexual orientation issues that plague America it seems that everything is moving further away and the possibilities seems disastrous for us to even come together as a nation in solidarity. Even with all of the chaos of doom and gloom, I ask the question “Can we save Humanity”?

The question? Is it possible that “God” caused a shaken of the nations for us to take the time to really see and appreciate life, and learn to respect one another without judgement? In the bible Acts 2:46-47 states “Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts, they broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Humanity is at play, what side will you be on, and can we save Humanity together as one people, one nation?
