As the new year approaches, many people are setting health-focused resolutions, making this an ideal time to highlight the inspiring work of Dr. Thomas and Dr. Laverne Jackson, founders of M.E.E.T. Ministry (Missionary Education and Evangelistic Training).
Nestled on 122 serene acres in Huntingdon, Tennessee, this 37-year-old faith-based health retreat has helped thousands reclaim their health through natural healing methods rooted in physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Dr. Thomas Jackson’s journey into natural healing began with a life-altering diagnosis. Once an aspiring NBA athlete, early-onset arthritis due to dietary factors derailed his dreams. Seeking solutions, he discovered the transformative power of natural remedies. Alongside his wife, Dr. Laverne Jackson, who has steadfastly supported his vision for nearly four decades, the couple has built a globally recognized program offering hope and healing to those battling life-threatening diseases.
At the heart of M.E.E.T. Ministry’s approach is G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N., an acronym for Godly Trust, Open Air, Daily Exercise, Sunshine, Proper Rest, Lots of Water, Always Temperate, and Nutrition. These “8 doctors that make house calls” form the foundation of their faith-based natural healing philosophy.
“We call these principles ‘The 8 doctors’ because they are God-given tools for healing that are always available,” explains Dr. Thomas Jackson. “Over the years, we’ve witnessed countless transformations, from individuals overcoming chronic illnesses to those finding renewed strength and faith.”
One memorable success story involved a guest who came to M.E.E.T. Ministry with advanced diabetes and high blood pressure. After participating in their retreat program and adopting G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N. principles, the individual experienced significant health improvements, reducing dependence on medication and regaining a vibrant quality of life.
A typical day at M.E.E.T. Ministry’s retreat offers a comprehensive healing experience. Guests engage in tailored natural treatments, educational workshops, and spiritual enrichment activities. This holistic approach addresses the root causes of ailments, empowering individuals to make lasting changes in their lives.
“We believe that true healing encompasses the body, mind, and spirit,” says Dr. Laverne Jackson. “Our program integrates all three elements, ensuring that our guests leave not just healthier but also spiritually renewed.”
As African Americans leading one of the oldest Black-owned natural health retreats in the United States, the Jacksons bring a unique and vital perspective to the field. Their work bridges the gap between faith and health, demonstrating how spiritual growth can complement physical healing.
“Faith is central to what we do,” shares Dr. Thomas Jackson. “It inspires our mission and strengthens our commitment to helping others reclaim their health.”
Through the School of Gospel Health Evangelism, M.E.E.T. Ministry has trained hundreds of graduates who now serve as ambassadors for natural healing worldwide. These individuals continue the Jacksons’ mission, spreading the message of G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N. and empowering communities to take control of their health.
This year, M.E.E.T. Ministry is launching its ‘Reclaim Your Health’ Campaign, a four-month initiative aimed at reaching more individuals and communities in need. Starting on Giving Tuesday, the campaign seeks to raise awareness and funds to expand their programs and services.
“Giving Tuesday is the perfect time to begin because it embodies the spirit of generosity and community,” says Dr. Laverne Jackson. “Our goal is to touch even more lives by making natural healing accessible to everyone.”
As they prepare for the future, the Jacksons envision expanding M.E.E.T. Ministry’s reach through new programs, partnerships, and collaborations. Their message to those new to natural healing is simple: “Start small by incorporating G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N. principles into your daily life. The journey to health begins with faith and a single step.”
For those ready to explore natural healing, M.E.E.T. Ministry offers a beacon of hope. As Dr. Thomas and Dr. Laverne Jackson continue to lead with passion and purpose, their work remains a testament to the power of faith and nature in transforming lives.
