Her extensive qualifications—ranging from her Bachelor’s in Social Work to her Doctorate in Social Work and Ph.D. in Christian Counseling Psychology—highlight her deep commitment to both academic excellence and practical service. As the founder and CEO of Great Joy Counseling and Consulting Services, she has created a prominent mental health agency that impacts countless lives in New Jersey. Her additional role as the head of Great Joy Community Development Corporationunderscores her holistic approach to community upliftment, as the nonprofit focuses on promoting health and quality of life.
Her advocacy extends far beyond her immediate professional practice. As a National Board of Trustees Member for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and with leadership positions on various boards such as the Black Girl Health Foundation and the YWCA of Union County, Dr. La’Tesha is a steadfast champion for social equity, diversity, and community empowerment.
Whether she’s providing training to organizations, writing grants, or engaging in activism, Dr. La’Tesha’s work embodies the essence of service and advocacy, deeply rooted in her mission to create a more just and joyful world for everyone.
On December 8, 2024, she will receive the “Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award” in Newark, NJ. This accolade is a testament to her years of hard work and resilience. Moreover, a TV One show, “Fatal Attraction,” periodically features Dr. La’Tesha, leading to her star power.
