When you read the words “Well Diva” what comes to mind? Bougie? Fly, Luxury, Exclusive? Well the CEO of “Well Diva”, Renee Simpson has put her stamp on what the Well Diva represents. The Well Diva tagline is happy, healthy, fly. Renee’s mission is all about creating a healthy lifestyle centered around Black women that you fully enjoy, full of travel, peace, growth and wellness. Check out Renee’s story below.
Give 3 adjectives to describe Renee Simpson.
I’ve been told many times that I’m Zen, eliciting a state of calm and peace in those around me.
A couple of times I’ve been referred to as regal, which I didn’t quite see at the time but I welcome it.
Finally, I would describe myself as a Jill of all trades. Not that I know everything, but I have a wide variety
of interests from health to spirituality and more.
What inspired you start your journey in entrepreneurship?
I recently took the Enneagram test which defines me as the adventurer. According to this personality test, I crave freedom. That’s definitely a big reason why I became an entrepreneur, to savor the taste of the freedom to write my own schedule and be my own boss.
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and get used to the highs and lows. It’s just a part of the road to entrepreneurship. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. But if you want it bad enough and you can maintain focus steadily enough, success will be yours.
What inspired you to create the Well Diva?
Well Diva was started as a way to encourage Black women to be “Divas” about their health and wellness. When you’re selective about what you eat, who you spend time with, what you read and watch, you will have better health outcomes. Being prissy, bougie, and picky about everything that affects your well-being should be a way of life. I wanted Black women to embrace this concept.
Are there any go to books that have kept you inspired along your entrepreneurial journey?
My long list of go to books include:
We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers
You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero
How to Be Wildly Wealthy Fast by Sandy Forster
What’s next for you & Well Diva?
The ladies (and gentlemen when invited) are heading to Ghana this summer for our second visit.
Our tour includes time with
real estate agents discussing what it takes to obtain land and property, good locations, and the pathway to citizenship. We’re also partaking in a relaxing and luxurious massage by the waterfalls. Ghana has too much to offer to cover it all in one visit, which is why I’ll be looking into opening my own place there to welcome the Well Divas when they visit.
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is from my mom. She would always say “Thank you makes room for more”. As a child I didn’t quite get it. But I now understand that she was briefly saying when you walk in gratitude, you attract more of whatever you’re grateful for.
