In the world of music, few voices can truly heal, uplift, and inspire all at once. Texarkana native David Michael Wyatt is one of those rare artists. With a career that blends gospel and R&B, Wyatt’s journey from church stages to global tours has been nothing short of extraordinary. His latest achievements are proof that his star continues to rise.

A Legendary Collaboration: Reimagining a Classic

Thirty years ago, Whitney Houston and CeCe Winans made “Count On Me” an anthem of friendship and support. Today, David Michael Wyatt has joined forces with one of the song’s original creators, the legendary Babyface, to breathe new life into the timeless classic. Youtube Link {Count On Me}

“Recording this song with Babyface was surreal,” Wyatt shares. “To work alongside a legend who helped shape the original is a moment I’ll never forget. This song has always been about love and connection, and I hope our version resonates just as deeply.”

Hitting the Road: Opening for Tobe Nwigwe

As if collaborating with Babyface wasn’t monumental enough, Wyatt is also set to open for Grammy-nominated artist Tobe Nwigwe on the #HomeIsWhereTheHoodIs Tour.

“I’ve been rocking with Tobe for a while, but this tour feels different,” Wyatt says with excitement. “I’m bringing a little bit of Velvet to these stages, creating spaces for healing and raw, honest vibes. This is about more than music; it’s about uplifting people and sharing something real.”

The Journey of a Star

Wyatt’s journey began with a deep love for music nurtured in Texarkana. After honing his craft at Berklee College of Music, he burst onto the scene with performances that caught the attention of industry heavyweights. From appearing on BET’s Sunday Best to performing for former President Barack Obama, Wyatt’s career has been marked by milestones that showcase his unparalleled talent.

Blending Gospel and R&B

Known for his soulful sound, Wyatt’s music seamlessly blends elements of gospel and R&B. Hits like “I’m Dope,” “Prosper,” and “Shine” have earned him a devoted fan base, while his viral cover of Drake’s “Doing It Wrong” has amassed over 30,000 views on YouTube.

“Music is my way of connecting with people,” Wyatt explains. “Whether it’s through a song that makes you dance or one that moves you to tears, my goal is to create something meaningful.”

Family and Faith: The Foundation of His Success

Behind the scenes, Wyatt is a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Shawn are proud parents to their son, who Wyatt credits as a constant source of inspiration.

“Family is everything to me,” Wyatt says. “They keep me grounded and remind me why I do what I do.”

Collaborations That Matter

Over the years, Wyatt has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Israel Houghton and Kirk Franklin. Now, his collaboration with Babyface marks a new chapter in his career.

“Working with icons like Babyface and Kirk Franklin has taught me so much about artistry and staying true to your voice,” Wyatt reflects.

Looking Ahead

As Wyatt prepares to hit the road with Tobe Nwigwe, he’s focused on bringing his authentic self to every performance.

“This tour is about connection,” he says. “I’m ready to tap into something deeper, to share my heart with every audience. It’s about more than the music; it’s about the message.”
