The Golden Globe Awards aired live Sunday night. While black representation continues to be lackluster, we did take home some awards. Watching the show, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, I couldn’t help but smile like a proud cousin.
Congratulations are in order for the following winners:
John Boyega “Small Axe” -Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role
Andra Day “The United States Vs. Bille Holiday”-Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture
Chadwick Boseman- “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”-Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture
Daniel Kaluuya- “Judas and the Black Messiah”-Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Jon Batiste- “Soul” -Best Original Score
We are so very proud of last night’s winners. Keep working hard and holding people accountable. Black talent cannot and will not be overlooked.
