Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige recently confirmed that you will not see late actor, Chadwick Boseman in the sequel of Black Panther.

In an interview with Deadline, Feige discussed his decision to not feature CGI footage of Boseman in addition to not recasting the role of T’Challa for the second film. He included that the franchise will explore more with the characters part of the cast and the world of Wakanda.

Feige said, “So much of the comics and that first movie is the world of Wakanda.” He added, “Wakanda is a place to further explore with characters and different subcultures. This was always and initially the primary focus of the next story.”

Feige continued, “We’re not going to have a CG Chadwick and we’re not recasting T’Challa. Ryan Coogler is working very hard right now on the script with all the respect and love and genius that he has, which gives us great solace, so it was always about furthering the mythology and the inspiration of Wakanda.”

Adding, “There’s also the task of honoring and respecting the ongoing learnings and teachings from Chad as well.”

It was confirmed just last month that Boseman’s character would not be recast at the 2020 Disney Investor Day live stream event. The late actor passed away after his long private struggle with colon cancer.

At the end of 2020, Disney revealed that Black Panther 2 will premiere July 8th, 2022.

The project is being written and directed by Ryan Coogler.

At this time, we know that actors Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, and Angela Bassett will return to the film.
