Get ready because Cookie Lyon’s story is not over. Deadline has recently reported that actress, Taraji P. Henson, who portrays Cookie Lyon on the hit series, Empire will develop a spinoff where she will also star in. This project marks Henson’s first project from her first-look deal at her production company, TPH Entertainment.
In an official statement, Henson said, “I believe that normalizing stories around stigmatizing matters will make them more palatable for audiences to embrace.”
She added, “Art can change perception and I plan to develop projects that can help further the conversation.”
Currently, we know that this project will be filmed on set in Los Angeles, California.
The spinoff currently does not have a name. Stacy A. Littlejohn, Yolanda Lawrence, and Danny Strong will all serve as executive producers. Empire alum, Sanaa Hamri is slated to direct this project.
