After organizing a back-to-school concert in his old stomping grounds, the Marion Projects, Albee Al delivers the deluxe edition of his Koba’s Coming album to his fans. The twenty-two-track album displays Albee’s confidence in his ability to take over the rap game and stay true to himself. Koba is a nickname that Albee has referenced himself as through several projects, such as FREE THE REAL and the 2019 album titled Koba.

Prior to the deluxe’s release, Albee and Dusty Locane released the visual for their collaboration, “Wake Up The Neighbors.” The Rock Davis-directed video features Albee Al and Dusty Locane trading verses on how they’re not the ones to mess with in the rap game. Albee states that he’s still the king of his city and how he gives his hood hope of becoming a superstar.

A standout track in the deluxe album is the “Hood Olympics” remix featuring Jadakiss, Freeway, and Benny The Butcher. The four Atlantic emcees trade verses on how they made it out to be the best, coming from their respective hoods in Jersey City, New York City, Philadelphia, and Buffalo. Jadakiss expands on how social media and clout became a new form of currency for some and that people need to focus more on being themselves in and out of their craft.

Albee goes on to show his more vulnerable side in “Letter To TWY” which is dedicated to a close friend who passed away in 2020. He made a song about TWY called “TWY Gang” in his FREE THE REAL mixtape in 2022.

In “Letter To TWY,” Albee reflects on losing his close friend. He expresses how he wants to cry when he looks at TWY’s son’s eyes and hears that TWY’s mom no longer trusts people after her son’s death. He expresses how hard it is to write the song but knows that TWY would like it, which inspired him to put the song out. Albee also explains how it frustrated him when he heard the news in prison and how thankful he was to have someone like TWY in his corner throughout his life.

The Jersey City Gladiator does show a lighter-hearted side in the album with the song “No Problem.” The song is an ode to a loyal ride-or-die woman who held him down through rough times. The song also discusses how he moved on from an ex and tells his current woman, “Baby be my peace. I already fight depression. Money is the root of evil, but sometimes a blessing. Swear I’m too lit to be worried about my exes. Confident I’m the one, so there ain’t no guessing, I just got a few questions…”

The album contains additional features from Rob49, Fivio Foreign, PnB Rock, Lil Tjay, Dave East, Millyz, Sha Gz, and Leaf Ward. Koba’s Coming is Albee Al’s story of perseverance and consistency in the rap game, which states that he’s not leaving anytime soon.
