Autty’s designs are more than just clothing—they’re a reflection of confidence, boldness, and timeless style. In this exclusive interview, we chat with Autty about her rise to success, the upcoming Miami Swim Week, and her advice for aspiring designers.

Autty, you’ve achieved so much in just a few years. Can you share with us how you got started in fashion?

Well, I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan, and I moved to Florida at 17 with big dreams. I started my business five years ago as a boutique, but I quickly realized that the wholesale fashion world wasn’t for me. It felt too predictable, and I needed something that excited me. That’s when I decided to create my own custom pieces. I wanted my business to feel like me—something that truly represents my personality and vision.

You’ve mentioned that your designs are “sexy, but still classy.” Can you tell us more about your design aesthetic?

Yes, absolutely! For me, it’s all about the cut. The right cut, with the right fabric, creates magic. My designs are meant to enhance the female body. I love creating pieces that hug in all the right places, so you feel confident and powerful. I focus on designs that flatter every curve while still maintaining a sense of elegance and class.

You’re gearing up for Miami Swim Week this year. What can we expect from your upcoming collection?

Miami Swim Week is always such an exciting time! This year, I’m presenting swimsuits and resort wear, but with a twist. My cover-ups aren’t just for the beach—they’re made to take you from the boat to the club and even to dinner. I’m all about versatility. I also love bright, fun colors like fuchsias and bold hardware. And I’m obsessed with using silks to give that luxurious, expensive feel to my designs.

Who or what inspires your designs?

I’ve always admired Roberto Cavalli for his bold prints, and Schiaparelli for her statement accessories. Those designers understood the power of making a statement—whether through intricate details or vibrant patterns. I bring that same energy into my work, making sure each piece is full of life and personality.

You seem to thrive under pressure. How do you manage the demands of fashion week while juggling your other projects?

I love the challenge. It’s definitely a lot of work, especially when I’m balancing Miami Swim Week preparations with my summer collection. I thrive on pushing myself and doing things differently each time. I’m also really particular about keeping my brand fresh, so I’m always thinking about new photo shoots and promotional ideas to keep my audience engaged. I never want to be boring!

How does music fit into your creative process?

Music is essential to my design process. Right now, I’m really into early 2000s music—Rick Ross, Beyoncé, Ashanti. Music gives me visions for my designs. When I hear a song, I get an idea, and the whole look just comes to me. It’s like the rhythm and energy of the music channel directly into my creations. It’s a key part of how I stay inspired.

What advice would you give to someone looking to break into the fashion industry?

My advice is simple—just do it. You’re going to make mistakes, but that’s how you learn and grow. I’ve made tons of mistakes, and I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s all part of the journey. Also, stay true to your vision. Don’t just follow trends—create your own. Know what your brand stands for and stick with it.

As a designer, what’s your go-to beauty routine?

I like to keep it simple. My beauty essentials are lip liner and mascara. It’s all about enhancing what’s already there. I believe in confidence, and for me, those two products help me feel my best. It’s about keeping things minimal but effective—just like my designs!

What’s next for you? What projects are you excited about?

Right now, it’s all about Miami Swim Week and my summer collection. But I’m always thinking ahead—how to elevate my brand, try new things, and keep pushing myself creatively. There’s so much more to come, and I’m excited to share everything with my audience. The journey is just beginning so stay tuned, because Autty Simone is just getting started!
