In the upcoming installment of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Season 17, Miami’s own “drag toon” Lucky Starzzz emerges as a distinctive talent. Born in Havana, Cuba, and relocating to Miami at the age of three, Lucky infuses her performances with a unique blend of club kid aesthetics and camp flair. She describes her drag as “a Venus flytrap in a room full of roses,” utilizing materials like paper, foam and spray paint to craft her expressive, cartoon-inspired looks.

Lucky’s journey to the Drag Race stage underscores the solidarity within the drag community. In a candid interview, she revealed that Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, a Season 15 alum and fellow Miami queen, “helped Lucky pay for oversized baggage fees to ensure she’d make it to set.”

Malaysia was the first Miami-based contestant on the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise, where she earned the Miss Congeniality title. Beyond her drag persona, Malaysia has showcased her skills as a hairstylist by working with notable female rappers Katrina Taylor and Yung Miami.

Beyond her creative performances, Lucky is known for her elaborate headpieces that complement the theatrical narratives portrayed through her costumes.

As Lucky Starzzz steps onto the national stage, her innovative artistry and the genuine connections she’s fostered promise to make her a standout. Fans eagerly anticipate her performances, confident that her authenticity and creative vision will leave a lasting impression on the competition.
