Recent studies have shown that Black students showcase the interests and natural talents within Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, but due to lack of access or exposure to the career opportunities within each industry, the students do not pursue STEM careers.

On this National STEM Day, we want to highlight a highly anticipated series where young multicultural students will be able to see themselves as young heroes and heroines in the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which follows young protagonists, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and KB (Kyriana Kratter), as they embark on a journey in a galaxy far, far away, perfectly embodying the spirit of discovery and innovation that is at the core of STEM/STEAM education. This thrilling new series, exciting to Star Wars fans of all ages serves as the perfect launchpad to inspire a new generation of dreamers and doers during what some experts consider to be the ‘golden age of space exploration.

Just as Wim, Fern, and KB navigate intergalactic quests and are faced with challenges that require teamwork and ingenuity, STEM Day encourages students to explore and embrace the infinite potential of these fields. The problem-solving and creativity shown in “Skeleton Crew” mirror the skills STEM aims to cultivate in students.

National STEM Day and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” together inspire young learners to dream big and realize that with the right tools and education, they could contribute to the next groundbreaking discovery or creative innovation. Whether they’re building the next generation of spacecraft or designing the future of robotics, today’s students have the potential to transform science fiction into reality.

By harnessing the excitement and vast possibilities presented in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, National STEM Day can ignite a passion for learning and creating, ultimately empowering the next generation of thinkers, makers, and explorers.
