What are the most prominent beauty trends we’re seeing this fall, and how can people incorporate them into their daily routine?

Shay: The most prominent beauty trends we’re seeing this fall are…

1. Big Curls: Embracing natural curls and using curl-enhancing products are in trend right now. Big curls are a sign of feeling carefree and fearless. Beauty lovers are loving their curls!

2. Blushed Cheeks: For years beauty consumers skipped applying blush, based on the opinion that blush is being reserved for more mature women. Today, blush has made a full comeback. Brands are racing to market with unique packaging and formulas with hopes of capitalizing on the growing interest in this beauty category.

3. Bold & Glossy Lips: Bold lips have been a standout trend for years, and now they’re getting a glossy makeover. Consumers are either layering sheer gloss over their favorite bold shades or opting for striking glosses on their own, making this a must-have for the fall season.

4. DIY Nails: DIY nail kits are popping up in retailers everywhere! Consumers are starting to value the ability to make a statement with their nails for their fall events or just a simple day at the office. DIY kits give consumers the ability to be creative without a long-term commitment.

What colors are dominating the beauty scene this fall?

Shay:  This fall, any variation of fuchsia and/or hot pink is dominating the beauty scene.

How can individuals adjust their skincare routines to combat the colder weather and potential dryness during fall and winter?

Shay: Fall is always a great time to access your skincare routine. You may notice your skin appearing dull or feeling dehydrated. This is a normal reaction to the change in climate. During the fall and winter months, beauty consumers should add products containing Hyaluronic Acid to their routine. This will help skin look plump and hydrated during the colder months.

Can you share some self-care beauty practices that can help alleviate stress during the busy holiday season?

Shay: My recommendation is to turn your routine into a ritual. As our days get busier, it’s important for us to take time to care for ourselves. Don’t just wash your face, indulge in your products by taking the time to layer each product on your face, neck, and hands.

Tell us about what you do as a beauty correspondent on your local media station.

Shay: My career in beauty has brought me back to my early dreams of journalism. As a college student with a Communications degree, I envisioned a path in media, but I quickly found a passion for beauty and have been in the industry ever since. Today, I get to combine both passions as a live guest beauty correspondent on WDIV Local 4 Detroit, where I showcase brands and share accessible beauty techniques that resonate with everyday consumers.

Tell us about the work you do with your local Detroit Pistons.

Shay: Recently, I had the opportunity to partner with the Detroit Pistons Dance Team as their official beauty partner for the 2024-25 season. In this role, I work with the team to design gameday looks and teach advanced application techniques using MyBeautyKit.
