We had the absolute thrill of catching up with rising star and heartthrob Julian Griffith. After a few years away from the spotlight, he’s back and better than ever, ready to dish on everything from his music inspirations to his dream collaborations. Welcome back to Sheen Magazine, Julian—let’s dive in!

R&B resonates deeply with Julian—he’s a self-proclaimed “lover boy” at heart. Whether he’s unwinding at home or cruising with the windows down, R&B hits his soul like nothing else. It’s that genre that just makes life feel right. But don’t underestimate his love for Hip-Hop. It’s his go-to when he’s in the gym or preparing for a baseball game, either coaching or playing. 

As for the new wave of artists, Julian sees both the highs and lows. While some fresh talent is truly innovative, too many are stuck in the trap of sounding like everyone else—where’s the originality? That said, he’s vibing with artists like Jon Vinyl, Leon Bridges, Joyner Lucas, Allen Stone, and the ever-creative Childish Gambino. These are the artists who keep it real, and that’s something Julian deeply respects.

When it comes to collaborations, Julian is always open—if the artist is original and creative. On the R&B front, he’s torn between Leon Bridges and Allen Stone, two artists who bring soulful authenticity to their music. For Hip-Hop, it’s Childish Gambino or Eminem—both legends in their own right, who know how to keep things fresh and real.

Julian is also very selective about his acting roles. He’s careful to avoid anything that might box him in or lead to typecasting, especially roles that perpetuate negative stereotypes. His focus is on roles that offer depth and don’t compromise his integrity. As a father, he’s committed to ensuring that his work on and off-camera is something his daughter—and future children—can be proud of. No paycheck is worth losing his dignity.

On the big screen, Julian dreams of working alongside Coco Jones. Her talent as an actor, her incredible voice, and her infectious energy make her his ideal leading lady. Plus, let’s not forget—she’s gorgeous! For Julian, the perfect co-star is humble, kind-spirited, fun, energetic, and spiritually and physically attractive. He’s serious about his craft, but if the set is too tense, it loses the magic and enjoyment that acting is all about.
