What was the inspiration behind your Wifeology event?
Dr. Kre: As a medical doctor, I have cared for many women who put their spouses, their families, and their children all before themselves. I saw a pattern where this led to sicknesses like high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety. A lot of these working women were high-level professionals and didn’t feel like they had a safe space to share their grievances because at the level of their career people assumed they had no problems. Wifeology creates a safe space for women to lean on each other and know that they are NOT alone in life and can say yes more to themselves without judgment or guilt.
Do you believe in work-life balance? If so, how do you maintain it?
Dr. Kre: I believe that work-life balance starts with a NO. The sooner we begin to say no to the things we truly do not want or that no longer serve us we will then be able to embrace a work-life balance that is uniquely our own. There is not a one-size-fits-all-all formula for obtaining work-life balance, but there is a way for you to re-evaluate and re-prioritize so that you are not so overworked and overwhelmed because you said yes again out of obligation.
What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new authors?
Dr. Kre: Get started and have an accountability partner. Once you have started don’t let perfection paralyze you. You will be glad that you started but have the accountability partner to ensure that you finish, submit, and publish!
