Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs Welcomes People of All Ages Across the Country with Special Workshops and National Residencies

Ailey Arts In Education & Community Programs (AIE) national residencies and dance workshops further Alvin Ailey’s vision by building an extended cultural community while uplifting people of all ages and backgrounds. In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s US Tour, a variety of activities are being offered in Atlanta, Miami, Washington, D.C., Birmingham and Auburn, AL, and Los Angeles, including school-time performances in select cities to introduce young audiences to the magic of Ailey; the popular curriculum-based Revelations Residencies for middle school students and AileyDance for Active Agingworkshops for adults 50+. Led by Master Teacher and former Ailey star Nasha Thomas, free Revelations Celebration Community Workshops will be offered at Miami’s Arsht Center on February 2 and Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center on February 10.

AIE’s national offerings for young people continue this summer with the celebratory 35th Anniversary of AileyCamp, a full-scholarship six-week program for youth ages 11-14. In 10 cities nationwide, AileyCamp helps youth develop their self-confidence in an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and trust.
