Naomi Achu is a Cameroon-born singer, songwriter, and rapper. She is known for her energetic and melodious tunes, witty rap flows, and fashion flair.

Naomi has won several awards including two prestigious AFRIMA awards and a 2023 Humanitarian award for her charitable works and community involvement.

Naomi describes her style of music as afro-fusion (cultivated from her early childhood years of growing up outside of her home country); Which to her is the merging of her African heritage with the Western and Caribbean sounds.

What do you define as success? 

Naomi: I define success as making a decent living doing what you love to do. 

When did you know you wanted to be a singer? 

Naomi: I wanted to be a singer at 7 or 8 when I watched Whitney Houston sing “The Greatest Love of All”.

What’s the inspiration behind your music? 

Naomi: The inspiration behind my music is hope & celebration; people’s’ stories, my surroundings and life in general. 

Do you believe in work- life balance? If so, how do you maintain it? 

Naomi: I do believe in work life balance, and I maintain it by planning my days ahead and asking for assistance when necessary. 

What does a typical day look like for you? 

Naomi: A typical day looks like being a mom, handling chores, staying up late and writing songs as the inspiration comes and staying up late planning and working on music. 

What’s your best piece of advice for aspiring and new singers?

Naomi: Be yourself. Nobody can be like you.

Naomi: Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Kirk Franklin, Wes Madiko, Angelique Kidjo, Manu Dibango just to name a few.
