Tell us something about yourself that isn’t in your bio but is important for us to know about you.
The most important factor behind my success is my ability not to give up on myself. When times get hard, I stay calm and adapt to my environment. I also pray before I make any decisions. Sometimes things look good, but it’s not aligned with my purpose.
What was the inspiration behind your brand?
The inspiration behind my brand is my niece who I nicknamed Sugamama. She has always loved a good bedtime story. Therefore, I wrote my first children’s book The Adventures of Sugamama, and founded my company Brilliant Girl.
Why do you want our readers to know about the importance of representation?
Representation is important because it allows us to see ourselves. Sometimes we have to see people who look like us in different roles in order to believe that we can achieve what may seem like the impossible.
What is your proudest business accomplishment?
My proudest business accomplishment is donating over 90 dolls to children in need.
What’s up next for Brilliant Girl?
I plan to start working on the first animation series focused on Sugamama. In addition, I will be touring with my third children’s book Amina Fairy-In-Training. It’s a book that encourages children to never give up on their dreams.
